Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals is not possible without active participation of civil society of Pakistan. Let’s join hands to protect future of NGOs and INGOs in Pakistan.
1. Saving NGOs
in Pakistan
No doubt, non-government organizations have been participating
in socio-economic development at the grassroots level
throughout Pakistan including FATA. Lately Federal Ministry of
Interior has cancelled license of 218 NGOs. Some big names are
Asian Human Rights Development Organization, Nazria Pakistan
Council, Association of Chinese Enterprises and Helping Hands.
Cancelling of license has created rift and tension in the country.
Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals is not possible
without active participation of civil society. Federal government
should direct or advice NGOs and INGOs to follow rules and
regulations set by SECP and appoint honest professionals as
advisors.
Hopefully Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will take immediate
affirmative action to protect future of NGOs and INGOs in
country.
