This document discusses welding simulation software that optimizes welding sequences to minimize distortions. The software models welding of a naval stiffened panel with an initial nominal welding sequence. An automatic optimization process identifies an intermediate sequence that reduces distortions by 65% and a best sequence reducing distortions by 70%, though requiring 12 hours to calculate.
