This document outlines a proposal for a modern language learning platform. It discusses current problems with traditional language learning methods and gaps between classroom and software solutions. Brazil is presented as a case study example. The objectives of the proposed platform are to create an intuitive universal platform using latest technology to make learning easier for both students and teachers. Key concepts are high individualization, complete immersion, increased efficiency and ease of access across devices. An educational platform is proposed with users as teachers and students and adaptable complexity depending on device. Self-study and teacher materials are discussed. The platform could potentially be employed in various countries with collaborations across borders. Implementation would involve NGOs, companies, individual country tools, and translators/programmers

2. Agenda
• Current problems
• Brazil as case study
• Platform objectives
• General concepts
• The imagined platform
• Implementation model
3. Current problems
• Language learning in
institutions remains rooted in
old methods
• Most solutions are English
• Various technology solutions
are in a different market
altogether – creating a gap
between the collaborative
classroom environment and
the human-machine
interaction software
4. Brazil
Example of an ecosystem
• Limited foreign language learning
• High broadband penetration with potential
for much more
• Increasing availability of technology
• Ever-present obstacle of actually
implementing software solutions in
governmental areas
5. Platform objectives
• What is needed to solve the current
issues?
– Creating an intuitive platform that makes use
of the latest technology
– Creating a platform that makes everything
easier for students as well as teachers
– Creating a universal platform to achieve
penetration
6. General concepts
• How can a new language learning
environment fill the gap currently present?
• We believe in:
– An universal platform that provides high
individualization – catering the needs of every
single language learning student
– Complete immersion
– Increased efficiency
– Ease of access across all possible devices
7. Platform – starting point
• Educational platform with users in the
shape of teachers and students
• Adaptable complexity depending on
device (mobile phone, tablet, PC)
8. Platform – self-study
• Access to a range of materials that give
the possibility for self-study
– Integration of pronunciation check software
– Integration of vocabulary games and access to TV
(examples of already established tools)
9. Platform – teachers
• Teachers have the possibility to post their own
materials as to create an individualized
learning experience that fits a certain course
10. Platform - perspectives
• With the universality of the platform, it can
potentially be employed in various countries
• This gives the possibility for collaborations
across borders as native speakers of different
countries can help each other
11. Implementation
• Help from NGO’s and companies
– Hybrid model where both profit and non-profit
organisations should get involved
• Individual countries have their own tools
– Possible tax reliefs in this particular area
– Benefits through the providing of hardware
• Need of translators, programmers, etc.
