 Multimodal Journey Planner : Impact

 • Creating the “informed” traveller across unexpected conditions and trip
changes is the major impact envisaged
 • Linking local transport means with international rail/airline/ferry
trip is a means to promote public, local and environment friendly transports
 • WISETRIP service links many Journey Planning Systems and real-time data
providers, and brings them to the service of the international traveller.
Henceforth, it wides their use and accelerates their positive impact to
       transport and mobility.
 • A remote location is better known as accessible when a trip planner can
show the route to it and the transportation system can reach it by a
       combination of means
 • Wide Cooperation with Journey Planning engines and real-time
event information providers can become effective
 • Expansion in terms of geography and mode is fundamental as well
as the integration of unified ticketing services, in order to achieve
       commercial existence and sustainability

DIAVATIS is based around a central server, that offers access to licensed users
                                        server
                          (Content providers, Travel Agencies).
Each user (desktop client) is allowed to access data stored in his/her personal area
                     client
as well as in the public area of the database. They exploit available data for
points of interest and design trip plans. The system collects data registered in
the public area and distributes them to all licensed users.
The public only accesses the public area data.

DIAVATIS project : At the service of a regional strategy

The tourism trend favours the development of the individual tourism
model rather than the mass tourism model. The travel agent becomes
travel consultant enabled by ICT & rich eContent.
In this context the distribution and promotion of reliable knowledge
data about natural and cultural resources of a destination is of major
importance for tourism professionals, clients and destinations.
Crete is a region that accommodates the needs of variant tourist
interest, hiding a high potential for alternative modes of tourism
and such projects can become pilots for the future.
DIAVATIS expansion to whole region and incorporation of its
concept into its destination marketing strategic action plan
                              would be a
                          fundamental step.

 CRETEWISE vision : Regional Strategy

While penetration of smartphones is enlarged, information services
towards the mobile user are becoming the opportunity.
Reliability of data, quality of information and uniformity of data and
service availability across broad geographical regions is essential.
Telecommunications and information services at-hand is the key to
                          deployment.

Crete can become an ICT-enabled region for citizens and
                             tourists.
CRETEWISE pilot can show benefits for users and
destinations, but also show a strategic plan to follow.

 CRETEWISE vision

 ICT offers a broad field for ideas to emerge and deploy
                • Wireless technology & ad-hoc nets will enable revolutionary services
                • Next generation web is emerging – Semantic query interaction
                  should be the key
                • Advanced Augmented reality techniques will be deployed
                • User interface will employ vehicle-to-infrastructure technologies,
wearable devices, and other items of the Internet of Things vision
                • Innovation will remain under a continuous process
                • Milestone deployments should be planned, participating in a long-
                  term strategic plan

                                             Conclusions
  Integration & Synthesis
                • Dynamic packaging
                • All types of thematic tourism can participate in a bundling process at
                  various selling procedures
                • Intermodality and transport systems integrations is also achievable
and can improve accessibility of rural areas as well as form a
unified, well-tuned service network to accommodate the needs of
                  citizens and visitors.
  Enhanced Experience
                • Smooth trip planning
                • Informed visitor at the site – Augmented reality can give the
necessary information at the right time
