Nathan h and william s how did the nazis deal with minorities
1.
2. The Nazis divided the different races into two groups, those were the
Aryan or Master race and the other group were the ‘sub-humans’. The
‘sub-humans’ were other races, especially the Jews and the Slavs,
people from Eastern Europe.
The Nazis believed that Germans were of pure Aryan descent, from the
Herrenvolk otherwise known as ‘The Master Race’. The Aryan race
was made up of people that were tall, blue eyed, blond haired and
athletic. The Nazis and Hitler thought that the Jewish religion was not
a religion but as a group of people that were a race and ‘sub-human’
or ‘inferior’ to the Aryan race.
3. The treatment of the Jews was a slow but progressive operation. First
the Nazis had to make the Germans hate the Jews before they could do
anything major, like Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass). The Nazis
first took over the newspapers and started to make up negative
opinions about the Jews and put them in the newspaper, this made the
Germans slowly start to hate the Jews. The Nazis also started to make
schools educate the German children about the Jews and how they were
responsible for all of Germany’s problems and how they were inferior to
the master race and pure Germans. Also protests against the Jews were
used to make the Germans hate the Jews. After Hitler had full control he
started to do more major things to the Jews e.g. Kristallnacht in 1938.
4. Kristallnacht was an attack against the Jews by Hitler and the Nazis. The attack
took place on 9-10th November 1938. the attack was on Jewish building all
across Nazi Germany and parts of Austria. The Attack was carried out by the SA
paramilitary and German citizens. The attack is called Kristallnacht for a
reason, that reason is the attack left the streets of Germany covered with
broken glass from windows of Jewish synagogues, buildings and Jewish –
owned stores. During the attack at least 91 Jews were killed and 30,000 were
arrested and incarcerated in concentration camps. In the attack Jewish
hospitals, schools and homes were ransacked. Over 1,000 synagogues were
burned and over 7,000 Jewish businesses were destroyed or damaged during
the attack.
