This document outlines a proposal for a film titled "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with a budget of £10 million. It would be a British drama exploring the pressures faced by a group of stereotypical college students through their social, school, and family lives. The target audience would be ages 16-18 and rated 15 for depictions of alcohol/drug abuse, sex, and violence. The title sequence aims to set a mixed mood of excitement and upset through characters, sound, and genre cues in an introduction filmed in a local field.
2. TYPE OF FILM
• Genre – Drama, Cultural, Crime, Indie
• Budget - £10 million
• Nationality – British
3. TARGET AUDIENCE
• The target audience for my film will
be a 15 also the certificate will be a
15, I was going to rate it an 18 but
this wouldn’t allow more people
too watch it an also the topics t
brings up would be more relatable
to a 15 rated audience.
Furthermore I rated my film a 15
because it contains alcohol and
drug abuse, sexual and violent. The
main demographic for my film is
college students aged from 16-18,
this is because the contents
stereotypical of their social and
family lives. My film is similar and
inspired by the TV series skins and
Submarine directed by Richard
Ayode’s
4. PURPOSE OF TITLE SEQUENCE
• The mood I want to set in my film introduction is a
mixed one, firstly I would like my audience to be
excited but also I would like them to be upset. The
genre will be shown very clearly through character
and sound. The story is a group of stereotypical
college students dealing with the pressures of life
e.g. their social, school and family lives. In my
introduction it will show the main characters as well
as extras. The location for my film introduction will
be in a field near where I live.
5. TITLES
• For my titles it will cut
between the credits
e.g. director, producer
and actors and the
actual film. There will
simple yet effective
animation which will
show the genre of the
film clearly. The font I
will use will relate to the
audience and also the
characters by it being
immature yet
appropriate.
6. SOUND
• For the sound I am
going to have music
playing all the way
through and probably
some sound effects to
make the characters
actions for dramatic
e.g. a punch. The track
I have chosen for my
film is;
• Alerion – Asking
Alexandria
• Our Father - Devlin
7. PRACTICAL ISSUES
• I will need;
• 20 – 30 volunteers/extras
• Fake alcohol or empty containers
8. DESIRABLE RESPONSES FROM
AUDIENCE
• Naturally I want them to like my film intro but I would
like to relate to it as well.
