Final Questionnaire For our final questionnaire we asked 50 people to see what their thoughts were on our main and ancillary tasks.
Impressions of the Police
What do you think represents the Police most? This question helped us as it told us what we needed to show in the documentary. The highest was The uniform and after interviewing a police officer, he did said that people feel like they are safe when they see the uniform but some people are also scared of the uniform. The lowest was 20% which was the badge. People hardly tell they have a badge and therefore it not very important to our documentary. The uniform The badge The car
Do you believe the police are doing an adequate job? This question was important as we needed to find out what people thought of the police and the work that the police are doing. 32% said they thought the police were not doing a good job. 68% said they thought the police were doing a good job. We need to try and change that around and show that what the Police do, is helping the community and Leicester Yes No
How do you think policing of Leicester could be improved More patrols Better equipment More police in general This question helped us as it told us how the Police could improve. 50% said they felt there should be more patrols – This is something to show on our documentary. 30% said they needed more police in general, and 20% said they needed better equipment
Actual content of the video
How can the documentary show a balanced opinion of Leicester This question told us how we need to set out the documentary. 68% said that we should show real footage of criminals, but also of them being apprehended by Police. It is important that we show our audience real footage so they get a feel about what the Leicester Police actually do. Show the ‘grimmer side’ of Leicester, but one being handled by the police Show the ‘fun side of Leicester through clubs, but also order through focus on security Show ‘real footage’ of criminals, but also of them being apprehended by police.
Should there be a ‘visible presenter (i.e should it be walked through or be voiced over) Yes No This question told us if we needed a visible presenter or not. 68% said they would and therefore we should consider having a visible presenter on board.
Should Leicester or the Police be given more priority in the product? Leicester Police 50/50 This question told us who should have priority over the documentary. 64% said they would like it to be 50/50 – This will be to show both sides and have a wide range of content.
Actual content of the radio Trailer
Should the trailer provide some information that will be covered during the course of the documentary? This question told us what are trailer should prove. This helped us as we needed to know if some of the information about the documentary should be covered in the trailer. The most popular one was 78% - A good chunk and therefore information about the documentary should be provided. We need to make sure that we have this content on our trailer as no-one said that it shouldn’t provide information that will be covered during the course of the documentary. None Some, to get the audience hooked A good chunk
If so, should we focus more on the police or Leicester itself? This question told us what we should focus on, should it be about the Police or Leicester itself. As this is a documentary about the police 70% said that it should focus on the Police more then Leicester. This doesn’t mean that we are not going to focus on Leicester, it just means that more of our focus will go on the Police. Police Leicester
Should we have ‘actors’ voicing opinions or extracts of voxpop if needed? We were unsure what if we should have actors playing a set narrative or if we should have VoxPops. By far the most popular one was 73% who said that we should have Vox-Pops instead of actors. From this result and previous result, it seems that the audience want to see real footage of Leicester and Leicester nightlife. Actors VoxPops
Actual content of the poster
What Iconic image of the police should we include? This question told us what icons of the Police should be included. Our audience felt the Uniform represented the police more then the badge. From the final questionnaire about police icons people felt the uniform represents the police. The uniform The badge
What iconic image of Leicester should be included? This was also important as it told us what iconic image of Leicester we should have on the poster. 58% of the people said they would like to see the Clock Tower which is more then half. Whereas only 12% of the people said they wanted to see Liquid Envy however we have decided that we are going to have a few nightclubs on the poster as our documentary is about Nightclubs and nightlife in general. Clock Tower Highcross Liquid Envy
What percentage should each have (with 10% already dedicated to title. Broadcast info and credits)? {{Police/Leicester}} This question told us what percentage we should base the police and Leicester on. By far the most popular was 45/45 with 64%. This means we should have an equal amount of Leicester such as Liquid and the Police, for example police badges. 20/70 45/45 70/20
What I am going to take forward from this… The Radio trailer should focus on providing information on the police, as this proved the more popular choice to grab people’s attention However, the poster should allow for both to have an equal amount of space on it The questionnaire shave helped us in many ways; if we want to do an iconic shot of the police, perhaps one where the badge enters into the shot The documentary shouldn’t just focus on the police; we must show an equal balance with Leicester itself.
