I was a Fulbright Professor 1977-1979 at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. I taught Linguistics and Drama, mainly to one class of students during their Sophomore and Junior years. They're having their 30th reunion now, so I made this PPT for them to show. I wish I could be there!
27. March 10, 1978 Our practices for “The Importance of being Earnest” are going well. We’re going to do it in a “theater in the round” style. It’ll be lots of fun, I think. In the front of every classroom are platforms for the teacher to stand on, so we’re going to borrow those and put them in the middle of the theater for our stage.
38. We had some fun at my house… parties, singing, hanging out.
39. March 31 Tonight after the last performance of Earnest, I’m having a cast party for the whole class! I made a cake and a pie, and I have some vegetables and dip. The students have done such a good job and worked so hard! I want to reward them with a nice party.
