3. "In second quarter of 2013 (July-Sept), 191 MW of solar capacity
was added in the country, of which 145 MW was added in MP alone,
which is almost 80%," said Mohanty. In August this year, the MP
government commissioned 130 MW solar power project developed
by a private company in Neemach district. "This plant is the largest
single destination power project in the country as of now," added
Mohanty.
The MP government plans to achieve 3,800 MW of power projects
through renewable energy with wind based power projects
accounting for 1,900 MW of capacity followed by solar (1,400MW),
biomass (300MW) and small hydro projects (200MW). With no
electricity cess and duty for 10 years under New and Renewable
energy policy ( NRE), the state government is eyeing 21.11% of
renewable power plants by 2015 from 5% in 2012.
