4. Purpose Of the Project
The GXI Inventory System project is a project Team Turner will develop
for GXI International Inc. (GXI). Many employees of GXI are not satisfied
with their current inventory system which only tracks records of
products that goes into the warehouse.
The board of directors of the company has requested a system that will
do a lot more than just that. The purpose of this project is to provide GXI
an online system that will integrate all of the inventory operations in the
warehouse and allow employees to easily keep track of various
inventory records.
5. Objectives
1. Make work easier and less tedious
Provide an automated system that would make the work flow in the warehouse
easier and faster. Once the products are delivered to the GXI warehouse, and are
entered to the system, it’s already the system’s responsibility to thoroughly keep
track of its availability status, expiry date, quantity, and date of delivery to
various Metro Drug branches all over Luzon. The system already provides the
exact location of products in the warehouse, as well.
2. Increased data availability
Instead of going to the warehouse, the GXI Vice President for Branch Operations
may just search for needed information online. Since data query is done
electronically, relevant information will be made available in lesser time.
3. Have a more reliable database
All data will be held in a central database wherein data will be more secure. Loss
of important data such as from a misplaced paper-based form can now be
avoided. All data will be stored and processed to maximize their use.
6. Objectives
4. Data Security
Data stored in the system may only be edited, deleted, and viewed by employee
associated in the inventory process.
5. Organized data records
Provide an uncomplicated system with organized non-redundant records of data.
6. Increase company reliability
Keep an organized record of inventory that keeps company informed of when they
are running short of something and need to restock to ensure they can serve their
customers efficiently.
7. Improve company income
With an organized inventory, employees will be able to know the exact total of
products needed to be restocked, and which products are going to expire soon. This
would lessen, if not totally extinct wastage of products, and will result to fewer
expenses for the company.
