The document discusses closing the gap in interoperability between Second Life and the web. It notes that libraries must develop services within users' workflows, allowing users to choose their workflow. This ensures libraries can cope with numerous environments and workflow types. Libraries have long offered various interfaces and search options; they now have an opportunity to create format-agnostic and platform-independent services. The author warns against waiting for new social web 3D browsers to emerge before responding to new technologies, as happened with web 2.0.
