 The advantages and disadvantages of creating
text outlines

3. Creating text outlines
 You can turn type into a set of compound paths, or
outlines, that you can edit and manipulate as you would
any other graphic object. Types as outlines are useful for
changing the look of large display type, but they are
rarely useful for body text or other type at small sizes.
 Font outline information comes from the actual font files
installed on your system. When you create outlines from
type, characters are converted in their current positions;
they retain all graphics formatting such as their stroke
and fill.

5. The advantages and disadvantages of creating text
outlines
Advantages:
 The benefit of converting type to outlines is that it
eliminates the need to send the font along with the
file when you are sharing with others.
 You can also fill the type with a gradient and create
interesting effects on individual letters

6. The advantages and disadvantages of creating text

Disadvantages:
 Text is no longer editable. The content and font cannot
be change on outlined text
 You cannot convert bitmap fonts or outline-protected
fonts to outlines
 The outline fonts will loses it hints – the instructions built
into the system which allows the system to adjust the
shapes so that your system displays or prints them
optimally at a wide range of sizes
 You can only convert all the type in a selection to
outlines; you cannot convert a single letter within a string
of type. Alternatively, to convert a single letter, you must
create a separate type layer containing of only that
letter.
