Essay Requirements for English 102

       Essays must be typed (hand-written essays will not be accepted).
       Make sure that the paper is double-spaced (single-spaced papers will not be accepted).
       Use size 12 Times New Roman font.
             o Do not turn in an essay in any other size or type font. Do not bold.
       Use 1-inch margins all the way around on your papers. You may have to go to Page Layout to fix this.
       Place your last name and insert page number in the header of the document.
       Every paper must have a title (Try to be creative; this is your paper’s first impression. You want it to be a
        lasting one).
       Every paper must be stapled or paper-clipped. Don’t count on the classroom having a stapler. Come
        prepared with it already done.
       Indicate the beginning of a paragraph by indenting the first line .5 inch. Do not put any extra space between
        paragraphs.
       The page requirement of each essay will vary and will be specified by me when I assign the paper. Make
        sure to follow the requirement. Points will be deducted if you do not meet the minimum number of pages.
       Grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and spelling all count towards your grade. I will take off points
        for mistakes. Make sure to revise and edit your papers carefully. I recommend visiting the Writing Center
        and/or having someone you know read the paper aloud to you, so that you can catch some of these
        mistakes.
       Make sure to follow the plagiarism policy of the college. Plagiarism can include, but is not limited to,
        submitting work that you did not write (copying and pasting from Wikipedia, for example) and failing to
        properly cite the sources for any outside material in your writing. You will be required to submit all of your
        papers to SafeAssign.
       The headings for all of your papers should look like this:
