There are many instances when we feel inefficient with our time spent writing because we may allocate 2 hours for writing but only actually write for 1 hour due to external interruptions. That is frustrating.
This is my expert focus and 3 possible solutions to solve this issue.

Expert Focus: Helping Users Achieve Full Focus when Writing
1. Expert Focus 4/14/11 Expert Focus: There are many instances when we feel inefficient with our time spent writing because we may allocate 2 hours for writing but only actually write for 1 hour due to external interruptions. Design a solution that helps Stanford Undergrads focus on writing without any interruptions, such as Facebook, roommates, and text messages, for one entire hour.

3. App 1: Reduce physical & Mobile Distractions Smartphone app: An app that helps user reduces physical and mobile distractions. App will be designed to… Eliminate external distractions: Move user to location where external distractions are minimal. Eliminate internal distractions: Lockdown distracting apps on smartphone to decrease self-interruptions. Track productivity levels at locations: Keeps track of productivity levels at certain location points so that users may see where they are most productive, or most inefficient.
4. App 2: Use lock-down function and sounds of nature Smartphone app: App that uses lockdown function and sounds of nature (i.e waterfalls, rivers, morning birds) to decrease distractions and increase focus in writing. There will also be a reminder alert function that will periodically prompt user to check-in. This is reveal how often users are actually writing, or doing something irrelevant. The reminder alert can be customized and adapted to users’ productivity levels.
5. App 3: Eliminate Writer’s Block and Increase Flow of Writing Smartphone app: Eliminate writer’s block and increase flow of writing. Will have to do more research in this field to come up with viable solutions.
