Time is on your side don’t rush into anything part 1 (new york cosmetic dentist 10019)

Rush into Anything!

2. Time is on Your Side; Don’t Rush into
Anything (Part 1)
§ As we move forward through these sections it is important to
remember that knowledge, understanding and research are key to
making quality decisions about your dental care and getting an AList Smile. Knowing what’s on the market today will give you
options that you may not even realize exist.
§ I often take high-tech and cutting-edge procedures for granted, but
was reminded the other day of how little people really know about
all these products and procedures on the market today. “Dr.
Austin,” said one gentleman in his mid-40s, “what you’ve just told
me is amazing; why, I haven’t thought about doing anything to my
teeth since I got my braces off nearly thirty years ago!”
3. Time is on Your Side; Don’t Rush into
Anything (Part 1)
§ So remember that even if you think your smile is beyond hope, or your
specific problem beyond fixing, or even a simple procedure is beyond
your budget, think again! Slow down, take your time and read these
sections carefully because the answer to your problem could be just
around the corner. (Or, in this case, the next page!)
§ Of course, it wasn’t always this way. Once upon a time, dentists and other
members of the medical field were revered and well-rewarded for their
skills. Patients, and money, were both plentiful and student loans were
quickly paid off, as were mortgages and fancy cars. Today, however, there
are more and more dental providers on every block and more and more
liability and malpractice insurance premiums to pay for every dentist.
4. Time is on Your Side; Don’t Rush into
Anything (Part 1)
§ Unfortunately, instead of concentrating on honing their craft and
personalizing their service to meet the demands of their patients,
some dental providers have become more like salesmen, providing
not only regular cleanings but also pushing – and pushing hard –
procedures and products a patient may not need or, if they might
eventually need them, may not be quite ready for just yet.
§ I had a patient come in not long ago whose teeth were in pretty
poor shape. Although I knew it had been awhile since he’d been to
the dentist, when I asked him how long it had been he responded
with a “why” instead of a “when” answer.
5. Time is on Your Side; Don’t Rush into
Anything (Part 1)
§ He explained, “I’ve been to three dentists in the last six years and every
single one of them was a high-pressure sales experience. One wanted me
to get braces; another practically demanded I use his – and only his –
whitening program and get veneers. The last one wanted to charge me
separately to clean my upper and lower teeth; at $150 a pop!”
§ I understood his frustration. Know that what I am sharing with you in
this section is NOT a high-pressure sales job or a way to make more
money for myself, my competitors or my colleagues. That is what is so
important about a blog like this one; the more you know, the sooner you
recognize when something is necessary or a luxury. The more informed
you are, the better decisions you’ll make.
6. Time is on Your Side; Don’t Rush into
Anything (Part 1)
§ And one of the first things you need to know when preparing to
get your A-List Smile is that (in most instances), time is on your
side. Yes, your routine cleanings need to be performed twice
annually and cavities need to be filled but, barring various medical
procedures that need to be done to protect your health, the
assorted cosmetic products and procedures I’ll outline in Step 4
can be done on your own time, at your own leisure.
