Taenia saginata and Taenia solium are tapeworms with similar adult morphologies consisting of a scolex, neck, and strobila, but some differences. T. saginata measures 5-10 meters long, has a scolex with 4 suckers but no hooklets, and eggs that are 31-43 micrometers containing an oncosphere with 3 pairs of hooklets. T. solium measures 2-3 meters long, has a globular scolex with 4 suckers and a rostellum with a double row of hooklets, and a short 5-10 mm neck. Both have ribbon-like proglottid segments containing eggs in their life cycles.
