He understood the problem and saw a growing need of anti polio campaign.  This was the time when he came up with the ‘PULSE POLIO’ campaign to prevent polio transmission in India.  He came up with the slogan ‘2 boond zindagi ki’ and involved more than 400 NGO’s, health ministry and World Health Organization for fighting Polio.  And his efforts finally paid of on January 13 2011, the last polio case to be detected in the country.  At present India is POLIO FREE. This model was replicated by Dr. Harsh Vardhan in various other developing countries of Asia, Africa and South America.  For his efforts Dr. Harsh Vardhan received International acclaim and accolades. His efforts were widely appreciated by Mr. Bill Clinton, the then President of USA.
