• I have created 4 presentations on factors that affect fat loss:
– The Solution Trilogy (this overview)

3. Health : Some Important Systems
• Nervous system (with neurotransmitters as messengers)
• Endocrine system (with hormones as messengers)
− High levels of Insulin, Cortisol and Adrenalin and low
levels of Thyroid and sex hormone imbalances can
cause many symptoms that make being active difficult
• Immune system (with cytokines as messengers)
• Muscular/skeletal system
– In a healthy person these are correctly coordinated (e.g
proprioception) and arranged (e.g. posture) with enough
strength and flexibility to do all the activities they want to
4. Diet : Carbohydrate/Protein/Fat Balance
• A healthy diet is a balanced mix of carbohydrates/protein/fat
and although the best balance is disputed any extreme diet
(e.g. no carbs, high protein, low calorie) is unhealthy
• Carbohydrates are an important source of fast energy and
fibre BUT too many refined ones are a major cause of obesity
• Protein is an important source of essential and non essential
amino acids for the repair and growth of muscles, enzymes,
antibodies and hormones but a last resort source of energy
• Fat is critical to brain and nerve function, hormone production,
it cushions/insulates the body and is the best source of
sustained energy
5. Diet : Nutrition And Toxins
• In addition to providing energy your diet needs to supply
enough vitamins and minerals for all your body functions
• These include macro minerals, trace minerals, fat soluble
vitamins and water soluble vitamins and a healthy/varied
diet provides most people with all their needs
• Certain substances such as High Fructose Corn Syrup, Trans
or Hydrogenated fats, Caffeine, Alcohol, Nicotine, many
prescription drugs, Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Aluminium, some
plastics, pesticides, additives and preservatives are toxic
• Your exposure to toxins is probably greater than you realise
6. Diet : The Body Detox
• Ideally our bodies (e.g. the liver, kidneys, digestive system,
immune system, the skin) manage and then eliminate all
toxins but there is growing evidence that they are overloaded
• A toxic body can lead to many physical and emotional
symptoms e.g. unclear thinking, weight gain, allergies,
candida, regular headaches and migraines
• Body detox methods vary from week long fasting and herbal
supplement methods (fast great results but uncomfortable) to
short term food elimination diets (slower and subtle benefits)
• They can be used to kickstart your new healthier lifestyle
7. Exercise : Physical Ability And Motivation
• Whatever your physical ability (in your skeletal, muscular,
nervous, cardiovascular or respiratory systems) there is a
workout routine that can be designed for your needs
• There are lots of methods, tips and tricks that you can use
to become more motivated and efficient in meeting your
weight loss objectives and I share the details of some of
these in my other presentations
• Remember that ultimately, YOU are the only one that
decides your priorities in life ….
