2. Eyes are precious, and should last a lifetime. Now it’s time to learn about all the things which make sure that our eyes are always healthy & safe.

3. Symptoms that require immediate eye care:-*Apparent loss of vision *Sudden hazy or blurred vision*Loss of peripheral vision*Inflamed or watery eyes *Flashes of light or black spots

5. General eye care:-Exercise your eyes: First, blink your eyes several times, while you keep your eyes closed, roll your eyeballs both clockwise and anticlockwise & take a deep breath, now open your eyes gradually while releasing breath.

6. Drink water: Drink plenty of water; it reduces puffiness around the eyes.Don’t rub your eyes: if dirt enters your eyes, don’t rub as this may cause the dirt to stick inside. Blink several times to start your tears flowing; this will help flush out the dirt.

7. Eye care while reading*Good posture while readinghelps in reducing eyestrain.*Try to avoid reading while lying on your back, stomach or side.*Make sure that there is good light on study table & good room light as well.*Looking up from time to time from your reading can help in keeping your eyes relaxed.

8. Eye care while using computer:* Make sure that computerscreen is at least 18 to 26 inch away from your eyes.* Arrange lighting to minimize glare and reflection.* Remember to blink often to keep your eyes moist.

9. Television & Your Eyes*Never watch T.V. in a completely darkened room.*Place the set to avoid glare and reflection form bulb, tube lights and other bright sources.*View from distance at least 5 times the width of T.V. screen.*Avoid staring at the screen.

10. Eye care in Sunlight*While exposure to sunlight,always wear sunglasses thatshould:*Screen out 75 to 90% of visible light.*Block out 99 to 100% of U.V. radiation.*Have lenses that are gray, green or brown

11. Eye care while using cosmetics*Use only good quality ofhypo-allergic cosmetics.*Avoid using eye make-up inside the lower eyelid because colour pigments may cause irritation.*Prevent contamination of your make- up *Don’t use any product after their expiry.

12. Know your contact lenses*Ideally, a person who useslenses should wear it for not more than 10-12 hours a day& occasionally for 14 hours a day.*Never wear your contact lenses while swimming. The pool water houses various micro-organisms that may lead to fungal infection in the eyes.

13. Four rules for spectacles users*Don’t leave your glasses in such a position where the lenses come into contact with a rough or hot surface.*Use a stiff case or spectacles box rather that a pouch.*Clean the lenses with a soft cloth regularly.*Keep spectacles dust free & free of scratches as much as possible.

14. Eye care during infection(Like conjunctivitis)*First consult your eye specialist & follow his instructions.*Don’t swim (some bacteria can be spread in the water).*Avoid touching the face and wash hands frequently to prevent infection.*Don’t share towel or washcloths of other person.*Don’t reuse handkerchiefs (using a tissue is best)*Avoid shaking hands.
