Iraq developed a centralized free healthcare system in the 1970s, though it has low wages. Adult literacy rates in 2000 were 84% for males and 64% for females. Baghdad faces many issues impacting biodiversity like low rainfall, global warming, and low water levels in the Tigris River. Baghdad is the capital of the Republic of Iraq. The area of
Baghdad is (2,260 km2 ) The population of Baghdad as of
2011 is approximately (7,216,040) person , making it the
largest city in Iraq and the second largest city in the Arab
World (after Cairo, Egypt).
