1. The Bowman's are coming!! February 19 January 20, 2010 We celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ April 4 .
2. In 2 Peter 1 we find a most important lesson on growing in the Nature of our Father. We are taught to add the qualities of our Lord's nature to ourselves in the Power of His Holy Spirit . We possess these qualities, because He lives in us. We must grow in them. Faith, Virtue, Knowledge, Temperance, Patience, Godliness, Brotherly Kindness, and Charity (Agape)
3. 12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them , and be established in the present Truth. 13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
4. "I will not be negligent." Negligent = to be careless; to neglect; to make light of, or to fail to regard the value. That's a good watchword or battle cry for Christian living: "I will not be negligent."
5. "I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things." "I will be always very diligent and careful to remind you of these things." That is one of the chief responsibilities of a teacher, preacher, pastor, or apostle.
6. Some people think that they don't need to hear the same principles taught over and over again. "though ye know them , and be established in the present Truth."
7. In the heat of a situation we are prone to forget to do what we know to do. Truth must be so drilled into us that we don't have to think about it; We automatically respond as God Wills. Just as a soldier breaks down his weapon and puts it back together, until he can do it in the dark, We must be drilled in Christian living until it is automatically what we do .
8. 13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Peter was going to do what God had called him to do as long as he lived on earth. His job was to stir up the saints by continually reminding them of The Truth.
9. We will get negligent about being faithful in godliness , if we are not stirred up by constant reminders. Love one another and be patient with one another. Love is not self-centered . Don't worry be happy . If you're happy, tell your face . Let the peace of God rule in your soul. Be gentle with all people. Be faithfully good . Be meekly submitted to the Word and Spirit, living a life of godly moderation .
10. 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. We are all going to die . Finish the path God has laid out. Finish the work God has for you to do.
11. A second thought on dying: Don't have regrets when your loved ones die. You don't know when, nor how, nor where, But your loved ones are going to die. What are you going to wish you had done after they're gone?
12. Are you going to wish you had spent more time with them? Are you going to wish you had shown them how much you love them? Are you going to wish you had been sweeter, kinder, gentler with them? Death puts an end to all you will wish you had done.
