4. The Smart Grid Data Deluge
 With smart meters, utilities have to process data at 15-
minute intervals, which is about a 3,000-fold increase in
daily data processing for a utility. And this is just the first
wave of the data deluge.
 The second wave will include granular data from smart
appliances, electric vehicles and other metering points
throughout the grid. This will greatly increase the amount
of data being generated.
