4. Getting popular
The interior design
course has been gaining
popularity in Malaysia in
the past few years as
Malaysians have more
money to spend as well
as being aware of the
importance of a beautiful
living environment that
benefits our well being or
branding in our business
environment.
5. What is Interior Design?
Interior design is a discipline
that looks after designing all of
the interiors of a space.
This could include items like
flooring, windows, doors,
walls, fixtures, lighting,
furniture, and other design
pieces.
The goal of interior design is
generally to make a space
that is both comfortable and
look beautiful.
6. What do they do?
An interior designer can take on projects that
include arranging the basic layout of spaces
within a building or projects that require an
understanding of technical issues such as
acoustics, lighting, temperature, etc.
Although an interior designer may create the
layout of a space, they may not build the
space without having their designs being
approved by an architect, therefore many
interior designer also continue their studies to
become architects.
8. Good organisational skills
Interior designers do not deal only with design
factors but they need to possess good
organisational skills.
The Interior designer is like a project manager as he
or she will work closely with architects and clients to
determine the structure of a space, the needs of the
occupants, and the style that best suits both.
They will also work with the contractors and
materials suppliers to coordinate the work and
necessary supplies are delivered on time.
They must be good at scheduling and comfortable
reading blueprints.
9. What do Interior Designers
do?
Responsible for the
interior design,
decoration, and
functionality of a client’s
space, whether the
space is commercial,
industrial, or residential.
Interior designers work
closely with architects
and clients to determine
the structure of a space,
the needs of the
occupants, and the style
that best suits both.
14. Project Manager
Interior designers have to be good with more than
color, fabric, and furniture; interior designers should
have a strong knowledge of the different types of
materials and their functionality, possess budgeting
skills, able to communicate well, and coordinate the
ordering, installation, and maintenance of all objects
that define a space.
Interior designers need to gain a broad knowledge
such as electrical capacity, safety, and construction.
This broader range of required knowledge is what
makes them different from interior decorators.
15. Project Manager
The position is a combination of project manager and
artist, and it takes a unique type of mind to handle both
roles well.
Interior designers have to be able to work with
contractors and clients alike, planning and implementing
all aesthetic and functional decisions, from faucet
handles to miles of carpeting —and all this usually must
be done within a fixed budget.
Interior designers are hired for their expertise in a
variety of styles and approaches, not merely their
design concepts.
There is an emphasis on planning, functional design,
and effective use of space.
16. More than designing
Interior designers have to be good with more than
color, fabric, and furniture; interior designers must
know materials, have budgeting skills, communicate
well, and oversee the ordering, installation, and
maintenance of all objects that define a space.
They also have to know about electrical capacity,
safety, and construction.
Interior designers have to be able to work with
contractors and clients alike, planning and
implementing all aesthetic and functional decisions,
from faucet handles to miles of carpeting —and all
this usually must be done within a fixed budget.

18. Types of Interior Design
Types of interior design include residential
design, commercial design, hospitality
design, healthcare design, universal design,
exhibition design, spatial branding, etc.
The interior designer is responsible for the
interior design, decoration, and functionality
of a client’s space, whether the space is
commercial, industrial, or residential.
19. Administrative work
included
Therefore, they have to be able to balance
their own tastes and their clients’ tastes—and
be willing to put their clients’ tastes first
This element of the job comes as a surprise to
many new interior designers, who expect to
have less of an administrative and technical
role and more of a role in influencing the
overall feel and appearance of a space.
Those who thrive in the industry say this ability
to balance the practical with the aesthetic is
crucial to being a successful interior designer.
22. Studying Interior Design
Students will be able to perform services
relative to Interior spaces, including design
analysis, space planning and aesthetics,
using specialised knowledge of Interior
construction, materials and furnishings.
They will understand artistic and technical
requirements of a project, interpersonal
communication, and management
strategies.

campus size, facilities, university
partnerships and more.
We get to know you so that we identify
several colleges that will allow you to

44. Invest in your education
wisely
Most of you would not buy a car without first asking
your friends and relatives for their opinions. And yet,
some students choose a college by following their
friends.
When you consider that the cost of a private 4-year
college/university education including Foundation &
Degree (tuition, room, and board) ranges from
RM100,000 to RM200,000, Don’t you think that
obtaining a FREE consultation from a professional
educationist is a financially sound idea in making
one of the biggest decisions in your life?
45. A life-changing decision
There are a few decisions that we make in life that are life-
changing such as choosing a life partner, religion or career.
Choosing the right course will determine your future career.
If you choose a course that you feel later does not fit you, it
may be too late or may cost you in terms of time and money
to obtain another degree.
It is important to talk to the right people to find out which is the
best course that fits you with the grades that you have
obtained.

experienced college consultant can help do the guide you through the
confusion.
By focusing on the student, the counselor can pull the information that
is directly relevant to the student’s situation. And because a good
counselor also knows colleges well, he can select colleges that closely
match the student’s needs, abilities, and ambitions.
