2. Weathering This is an example of chemical weathering on a headstone at False Cape State Park, Virginia Beach, VA This is also an example of chemical weathering of a manhole cover in Virginia Beach, VA

3. Mass Wasting/Erosion The picture on the left is is a house, at Sandbridge beach, in Virginia Beach. The ground caved in and sunk everything around it. The picture below is from Millerton Lake.

4. Sedimentary Environments Continental. This picture was taken at Stumpy Lake in Virginia Beach, VA

5. Sedimentary Environments Marine: This picture was taken at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach Virginia.

6. Sedimentary Environments Transitional: This picture was taken at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach Virginia; it shows the transition between Continental and Marine.

7. Practical Uses of Geology This picture is of a stormwater runoff pond behind my house. Stormwaterponds are becoming a fixture to many residential communities, especially those under new development. Designed to capture all the run-off from parking lots and surrounding areas.

8. Practical Uses of Geology The picture on the top is of the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The Picture on the Bottom is of the bridge tunnel itself. The water is deep here in Virginia, as well as ships moving in and out of here on a constant basis, so they design “Bridge-Tunnels” they start off as bridges, go into tunnels under the water, and then turn back into bridges on the other side.

9. This was a very interesting project, more difficult that I had anticipated, but fun, nonetheless. I did not get to add an example of a fault, as I was unable to witness and document one from Virginia Beach Virginia. I searched the internet and it doesn’t look like there is any here on the East Coast. Not that I found anyway.
