Techila Distributed Computing Engine brings rocket speed to simulation and analysis, without the complexity of traditional high-performance computing.
Techila Distributed Computing Engine supports faster R&D time-to-market, enables better engineering innovations, and you don’t need to miss any more opportunities.
The solution enables 3024x faster simulation directly from the popular tools, programming languages and environments. Business users love TDCE, as it integrates directly with their favorite tools. The instantly available benefits bring a smile on the face, it is “just speed, no need to learn new tools”.
About Product: http://www.techilatechnologies.com/product/
TDCE is easy to try and deploy. Techila Technologies offers an easy step-by-step model: Validation of the benefits of the solution to your business, piloting with your key business users, and promotion of the solution to production. Unlike traditional high-performance computing that requires complex deployment projects, Techila Distributed Computing Engine is 180x easier to implement. Instead of a 6-month long project, the TDCE can be set up and deployed in just 1 day.
Techila Distributed Computing Engine is a non-intrusive solution that aligns with the existing and future IT stacks. It supports the existing simulation and modeling tools. It enables an optimized utilization of the existing on-premises IT and secure integration of resources from the organization’s compliance-cleared cloud. TDCE uses a patented technology that makes it possible to increase the IT ROI from 6% to 100% and a 1600% better value.
Techila Distributed Computing Engine comes with a productized support for MATLAB®, Python, C#/ .NET, R script, and a range of other popular tools and languages. It integrates directly with the engineers’ favorite tools, and empowers them to deliver faster and better-quality results when solving even the most challenging and complex business-critical problems.
Bank of Finland’s business users: “Without Techila Distributed Computing Engine, it would have been practically impossible to finalize the project.” http://www.techilatechnologies.com/bank-of-finland-studies-economic-crisis/
In modern simulation driven engineering, many of the simulation, optimization and modeling tasks have a so-called embarrassingly parallel nature. Monte Carlo simulations are a classic example of embarrassingly parallel problems. Parametric simulations can be seen as embarrassingly parallel problems too. Techila Distributed Computing Solution is a highly scalable solution, this makes it a perfect solution for embarrassingly parallel problems that can cut simulation times from days to minutes and from weeks to hours. Even in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment.
If you are a MATLAB® user, when using the Techila Distributed Computing Engine, you don’t need to invest in MATLAB® Parallel Computing Toolbox or MATLAB® Distributed Computing Server licenses.
High-performance computing made easy enables better simulation driven engineering and accurate results, without cutting corners.
Techila Distributed Computing Engine is adopted by many industries globally. Finance to Engineering and Research.
Techila Distributed Computing Engine is a secure solution. It is trusted by central and national banks, leading investment banks, asset managers, and insurance companies.
A reinsurance company had developed risk models in MATLAB®. The customer was running MATLAB® Distributed Computing Server in their own local data center to solve the models. The performance of the solution did not scale as required.
Calibration of this risk model on a PC would take a year. Even in the customer’s computing cluster, it took weeks to complete. This long computing time was a risk for the business and did not support interactive and analytical work. The customer wanted to speed up the model calibration and cut the run time from weeks to hours.
The customer had compliance clearance for AWS Cloud. Techila Distributed Computing Engine enabled secure integration of the customer’s own AWS Cloud account. Techila along with AWS Cloud enabled completing the model calibration 2 hours. The solution was easy for the risk analysts, because replacing MATLAB® Distributed Computing Server with Techila Distributed Computing Engine did not require code redesign, just a touch to replace MATLAB’s parfor (parallel for-loop) functions with Techila’s cloudfor functions. It was also easy for the IT, as TDCE is non-intrusive to the customer’s IT stack.
It was also noticed that if the data grows, or if there will be a need for even faster calibration of models, Techila Distributed Computing Engine will not limit the scalability. The user can simply add more resources to the system, and TDCE will scale the throughput accordingly. The tooling of TDCE can even enable automation of the process and self-service scenarios that support streamlined IT.

TDCE is a non-intrusive solution that aligns with the existing and future IT stack, and enables streamlined IT.
McKinsey has reported an average IT server utilization being 6-10%. TDCE enables optimized IT server utilization. TDCE’s patented technology foundation and built-in security enable also secure automatic scaling of workloads to the customer’s trusted cloud. McKinsey report: https://www.wired.com/2012/10/data-center-servers/
The demo on the left shows how a MATLAB simulation can run at rocket speed using the Techila Distributed Computing Engine. The demo on the right shows how to speed up a parametric simulation that uses a “black-box model”, where the user does not have source code access. The black-box model can be a vehicle component that a vendor has developed in Dymola and delivered as a compiled code, or it can be a filter that you use to clean measurement data from your field sensors. Techila Distributed Computing Engine supports all modern IT scenarios: full cloud, on-premises data center, and even a hybrid cloud IT scenario with cloud bursting to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. The user experience of TDCE is similar in all scenarios.
Techila Distributed Computing Engine enables highly scalable MATLAB computing with simplicity. By placing no limits to the number of processors you can use in MATLAB computing, Techila Distributed Computing Engine enables unlimited MATLAB performance. And what’s more we do not need MATLAB server licenses for the computing environment. The solution supports also the other popular tools and environments: R, Python, .NET, and more.
In the demo we’re using 1000 CPU cores from the AWS Cloud and Google Cloud Platform. Combining these with Techila’s technology it allows our simulations to take full use of the power of the cloud and run almost 1000 times faster.

A Techila Distributed Computing Engine system consists of three logical tiers: The users, a Techila Server that acts as a gateway to the system, and compute nodes that are called Techila Workers. TDCE is a full software solution that does not require a dedicated infrastructure. It is a full stack solution that has everything you need included: A scheduler that can support many simultaneous users, a resource manager that is designed for heterogeneous systems, enterprise-standard security, advanced reporting, and APIs.
Techila integrates directly with the users’ favorite computational tools. It comes with productized plugins for MATLAB®, Python, C#/ .NET, R script, and a range of other popular tools and languages. The applications can also be deployed on an application server and run as service in a SOA environment. The plugins support both Windows and Linux.
The plugins connect the applications to a Techila Server that orchestrates the system. You can install the Techila Server either in your on-premises data center, or in your own cloud account.
Techila Workers are virtual machines or physical computers that provide computing power to the Techila Distributed Computing Engine system. Windows or Linux. The Workers can be either in your on-premises data center, or in your own cloud account.
Download the IT Architecture and Security Statement of Techila Distributed Computing Engine from the Techila Documentation site at http://www.techilatechnologies.com/help/techila-distributed-computing-engine/
The Techila Server for on-premises installation is delivered as a VMware Virtual Appliance (VMDK image) that can be imported to an existing VMware host. Installation of the Techila Server in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is possible using Techila’s fully automated tools.
Each Techila Worker runs a small footprint software called Techila Worker. When using Techila Workers in the on-premises data center, the Techila Worker software can be delivered using the organization’s standard software delivery mechanism, SCCM or other. Starting and stopping Techila Workers in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform can be done using Techila’s fully automated tools.
TDCE also comes with automated tools that IT can use in enabling self-service scenarios where business users can adjust the throughput of the TDCE system on demand, according to their needs.
The IT scenarios supported by the Techila Distributed Computing Engine depend on the TDCE license type. TDCE is available as a pay-as-you-go solution, or it can be used with an enterprise license that can be purchased directly from Techila Technologies. The pay-as-you-go solution is a full cloud solution that can be deployed with ultimate simplicity. The enterprise license supports installation in an on-premises data center, or in a hybrid cloud IT scenario and cloud bursting.
