The very first value of the agile manifesto starts with individuals and interactions over processes and tools. This shows how important is the human angle in agile. In the agile world, all the time we talk about change in mindset, human values, servant leadership, respect, working together, etc. But do we practice this in our day to day to life? If yes, how many teams are confident that they are an ideal example that truly adheres to this principle? We can hear teams saying ‘my team member did this and your team member did that’ while working on the same project. Such behavior is especially very typical in large enterprises. Delivery frequently, talk to your customers frequently, communicate effectively are some of the important behaviors of successful teams. This interactive talk is an attempt to ignite such thoughts for teams that are new to agile adoption as well as for the established teams and assess themselves on the behavior patterns.

The session takes a journey into the question “Why the question of Challenges in Agile Mindset even after 16 years of Agile Manifesto?”. People walk into Agile world being exited, skeptical, pushed by circumstances or wanting for something better. Irrespective of how they come in, most of them board the journey. A few excel, a few survive and a few quit. Frequently we talk about Agile Mindset and its challenges, however very seldom do we speak about transformation at the level of mindset. Mesmerized in the hypes and attractions, newness, people jump in with whatever mindset they are in. How do we even expect Agile Mindset to work or even inspire Agility without addressing the possibilities of agile mindset. This session at Regional Scrum Gathering took the participants into a trans-formative inquiry into the possibilities in an agile journey that goes far beyond a business transformation and Inspiring Agility as a matter of choice.

Presentation delivered at Agile Vietnam 2017 on 4 November 2017 ------- Adding value to agile projects as a Project Manager isn't easy. The prevalent tenor is that the role "Project Manager" shouldn't exist, not in title and even less so in spirit. However, reality is that PMs or roles with traditional project management responsibilities are still everywhere and more common than agile servant-leader Scrum Masters or Kanban Flow Managers. So, if you find yourself in a position of being an [Agile] Project Manager or in a similar role, join my session to learn how you can add value and foster an agile system at the same time with Kanban. You will leave the session with hands-on techniques that you can implement the very next day to improve the way you and your team works!

Agile has exploded in the last decade. Started in the software industry, Agile has now gone mainstream and is being adopted by a wide range of organizations. This rapid growth can be attributed to its core principles of delivering customer value quickly, while seamlessly dealing with change. Due to this growth, there is a ton of online information about how best to become Agile. Many training courses focus on adopting an "Agile Mindset" or learning a prescribed framework like Scrum. Blog articles discuss specific Agile practices, like the daily standup meeting, while webinars promise increased ROIs and customer satisfaction. For newcomers, this information can be overwhelming, especially for those assessing if Agile is even applicable to them. What is lacking is a clear guide on how to get started. This talk will explain why every Agile journey must begin with the formation of independent, cross-functional teams that do not require assistance from outside resources to deliver value. We will focus on how to create high performing Agile teams by instilling a culture of accountability and transparency. Finally, we will review the critical Agile practices to which every team must adhere with commitment and discipline.

Agile efforts typically begin in engineering but become stagnant when they fail to expand to other parts of the organization. This talk will explore the individual systems that must thrive for an entire organization to be agile. The four core elements that must exist for agility to scale with longevity and purpose are: alignment to strategy, customer-first values, lean discovery practices, and capacity for change. We will take an in depth look at how each element operates with agile methods and what is required for them to evolve within the business. Gain an understanding of how to move beyond following practices in isolation in order to achieve harmony in the full embrace of reciprocal agile principles at scale.

Ah, the sounds of feathers being ruffled! Tricia Broderick believes that servant leadership is not all that it’s cracked up to be. She wants and expects more from leaders then just being servants who act only when asked. Until now, a common (and easy) coaching style has been to transform managers from command-and-control leaders to serving others. How can anyone argue that the transition is a great step toward becoming an empowering leader? However, with this style, leaders keep experiencing problems―my team is not making decisions; my team is not making progress; my team doesn’t know what help they need. Let’s not forget a very personal concern―as the leader, am I now just an admin with a nice title? Join Tricia to explore the dynamics of various leadership styles that are essential for team evolution. Discover ideal traits and behaviors—beyond servant leadership—that will inspire, guide, coach, empower, and adapt to successfully serve others.

Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine. In this presentation, Rakhi Sharma reviews the status of the project, our recent developments in 2023, our collaboration with Tauri to make Servo an easy-to-use embeddable rendering engine, and our plans for the future to make Servo an alternative web rendering engine for the embedded devices industry. The presentation explores the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) from its inception to its current status in the modern world. The term "artificial intelligence" was first coined by John McCarthy in 1956 to describe efforts to develop computer programs capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. This concept was first introduced at a conference held at Dartmouth College, where programs demonstrated capabilities such as playing chess, proving theorems, and interpreting texts. In the early stages, Alan Turing contributed to the field by defining intelligence as the ability of a being to respond to certain questions intelligently, proposing what is now known as the Turing Test to evaluate the presence of intelligent behavior in machines. As the decades progressed, AI evolved significantly. The 1980s focused on machine learning, teaching computers to learn from data, leading to the development of models that could improve their performance based on their experiences. The 1990s and 2000s saw further advances in algorithms and computational power, which allowed for more sophisticated data analysis techniques, including data mining. By the 2010s, the proliferation of big data and the refinement of deep learning techniques enabled AI to become mainstream. Notable milestones included the success of Google's AlphaGo and advancements in autonomous vehicles by companies like Tesla and Waymo. A major theme of the presentation is the application of generative AI, which has been used for tasks such as natural language text generation, translation, and question answering. Generative AI uses large datasets to train models that can then produce new, coherent pieces of text or other media. The presentation also discusses the ethical implications and the need for regulation in AI, highlighting issues such as privacy, bias, and the potential for misuse. These concerns have prompted calls for comprehensive regulations to ensure the safe and equitable use of AI technologies. Artificial intelligence has also played a significant role in healthcare, particularly highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, where it was used in drug discovery, vaccine development, and analyzing the spread of the virus. The capabilities of AI in healthcare are vast, ranging from medical diagnostics to personalized medicine, demonstrating the technology's potential to revolutionize fields beyond just technical or consumer applications. In conclusion, AI continues to be a rapidly evolving field with significant implications for various aspects of society. The development from theoretical concepts to real-world applications illustrates both the potential benefits and the challenges that come with integrating advanced technologies into everyday life. The ongoing discussion about AI ethics and regulation underscores the importance of managing these technologies responsibly to maximize their their benefits while minimizing potential harms.
