• Think about two facts about you that you would like to
  share with your classmates.
• Think of a lie that is plausible
• When ready students will take turns telling their “3 facts”
  the class will guess what is the lie.

II Discipline
A. Rules
  1. Respect all individuals in the class & school property (i.e. keep
     your hands, feet, objects, and all negative comments including
     curse words to yourself).

2. Follow school rules (no eating or drinking), Dress Code, and
   Conduct Code.
3. Eyes and Ears must be visible
   (no sleeping)
4. Nothing goes airborne!
II Discipline IMPORTANT!!!
5. Keep radios, cell phones, I Pods, PSPs, playing
   cards,            and other electronic devices or games at home or
   where they ARE NOT SEEN or heard by the teacher.
   •   If they are confiscated I will keep them until the end of the day/ given to
       administration

B. Consequences
  1.   Verbal warning (3)
  2.   Seat change and notation on grade book.
  3.   Student conference, Action Plan or written assignment.
  4.   Parent/ guardian contact or meeting.
  5.   Referral to administration and parental contact.
  6. SEVERE DISRUPTION or DISRESPECT
     immediate referral to administration.

III Procedures and Routines

A. Starting the Class
Teacher will take attendance while students do the following:
  1. Students are to be in their seats and ready to work by the time
      the tardy bell rings.
  2. Copy the objectives and agenda for the day including any
      homework assignments on the “Daily Log” portion of their
      notebook.
  3. Have Green Periodic table out on your desk
  4. Complete bell ringer, puzzle or journal that will be on the board.
          Make sure to date logs and continue on the same paper as
           previous journal until FRONT and BACK are used

B. Ending the Class
  1.   ONLY the teacher dismisses the class. The bell DOES NOT dismiss
       the class.
  2.   Students MUST be in their assigned seats.
  3.   Students MUST be quietly waiting for teacher dismissal.
  4.   Room and aisles MUST be clean of papers, pencils, wrappers etc.

C. During class entry and exit procedures
  1.   WHEN GIVEN PERMISSION, student will be given a hall pass and
       quietly leave the class.
  2.   After student returns, they must give the pass back to the teacher.
  3.   Students can only ask permission to leave the classroom when all
       students are in the room.
  4.   Only one student is allowed to leave the class at a time.
  5.   Passes are not given during the first/last 15 min of class.
  6.   2 passes per nine weeks

D. Movement within the class
  1.   Remain in your seat unless you have permission to do
       otherwise.
  2.   Hold any papers or materials that need to be discarded until the
       end of the class.
  3.   If necessary raise your hand to be recognized BEFORE
       speaking.
E. Getting and storing materials and personal items
  1.   Book bags and other personal items should be stored NEATLY
       next to the student’s desk without blocking the aisle.
  2.   If books are not being used (i.e. during tests or quizzes) they
       are to be placed under the student’s seat.
III. Procedures and Routines
F. Quieting the class and getting attention
  1.   Raising hand
  2.   Standing in front of class means that I need your attention and all
       eyes MUST be on me.
G. Responding to interruptions from visitors
  1.   Students will remain in their seat.
  2.   Students should continue working, it is NOT free time.
  3.   Students will make sure to be quite if they were not already
       working quietly until the visitor leaves.
H. Calling on students
  1.   Students will be called at random to answer class review
       questions.
  2.   If student does not know the answer, the teacher will ask another
       student and then come back to the previous student.
  3.   All students will have a chance to participate within one to two
       class periods.
III. Procedures and Routines
I.    Collecting and returning homework
     1.   Homework assignments are turned in at the beginning of class
          in designated tray before they get to their seats.
     2.   Assignments turned in after this are considered late and will
          receive 10 points off (1-letter grade deduction).
J. Assignments that are not graded
     1.   teacher will check assignments and initial the top right hand
          corner.
     2.   These “checked assignments” will be collected for an extra
          credit grade. Accumulation of four (4) “checked assignments” is
          an A. Three is a B and so on.
     3.   For assignments to be “checked”, students must be present in
          class and have completed the assignment by the time that it is
          due.
     4.   “Checked assignments” cannot be made up.
III. Procedures and Routines
K. Make up assignments and tests
  1.   Students are responsible for any missed work assignments
       including notes .
  2.   Students are to refer to a classmate’s “Daily Log” and pick up any
       handouts they may have missed.
  3.   A class or school absence does NOT excuse the student from
       obtaining the notes and/or assignments.
  4.   Only students with excused absences will be allowed 48 hours to
       make up assignments.
  5.   Helping another teacher is NOT an excuse tardy or absence.
  6.   Students cannot make up assignments if the student was in
       school at any point during the day the assignment was due.
  7.   When making up a test, students are allowed one week to make up
       the test.
  8.   Students will not be permitted to make up projects or labs unless prior
       arrangement is made at least 48 hours or a medical emergency has
       occurred and can be documented.
III. Procedures and Routines
L. Tardiness
  1.   A student is deemed late if they are not in their seat by
       the time the tardy bell rings or while teacher is taking
       attendance.
  2.   Late students must show a pass from their previous
       teacher.
  3.   If you are tardy, you will be given a warning.
  4.   After 2nd tardy an action plan will be written.
  5.   After 3rd tardy, a conduct grade will be deducted and
       parents will be notified.
  6.   If problem does not improve, student will be referred to an
       administrator in addition to parental contact.
III. Procedures and Routines

M. Cheating Policy
  1.   CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
  2.   Students are expected to complete all assignments on their
       own unless otherwise assigned by the teacher.
  3.   Copying or allowing someone else to copy off of their paper is
       considered cheating. NO PLAGIARISM
  4.   Students who allowed someone to copy from their assignment
       will receive a double F for that assignment and the copier will
       receive the grade for the assignment.
  5.   Students caught copying or allowing someone else to copy
       during tests or quizzes will receive a double F for that
       assignment. BOTH students will receive a double F.
III. Procedures and Routines

N. Fire Drill and/or movement to other areas in school
  1.   Students will line up inside the classroom parallel to the
       hallway and wait for teacher indication to leave the classroom.
  2.   Students are to remain quiet while walking in the hallway.
  3.   Students must stay with their class once they arrive to the
       destination.
Grading Policy & Materials

• Look at Class Rules paper for grading policy
• Materials:
   – Must have a scientific calculator by latest Friday
   – Coloring pencils and markers if desired
   – 5 dividers
      1.   1st nine weeks
      2.   2nd nine weeks
      3.   3rd nine weeks
      4.   4th nine weeks
      5.   Handouts/ references

Daily Logs and Journals: Class Rules and Procedures

What are you hoping to learn?
  • 3. Two Truths and a Lie • Think about two facts about you that you would like to share with your classmates. • Think of a lie that is plausible • When ready students will take turns telling their “3 facts” the class will guess what is the lie.

I My Goals & Expectations • I am committed to ALL of you and hope to engage you in a challenging, fun and safe classroom. • I want you to become responsible and accountable individuals. • I will teach the importance of intrinsic motivation, achievement, inspire you to become lifelong learners and pursue your dreams. • I will be a patient but assertive teacher, always try to portray a good attitude and meet your needs. • You will always try your very best, think, ask questions and never give up!   • 10. II Discipline A. Rules 1. Respect all individuals in the class & school property (i.e. keep your hands, feet, objects, and all negative comments including curse words to yourself).
  • 11. II Discipline cont. 2. Follow school rules (no eating or drinking), Dress Code, and Conduct Code. 3. Eyes and Ears must be visible (no sleeping) 4. Nothing goes airborne!
  • 12. II Discipline IMPORTANT!!! 5. Keep radios, cell phones, I Pods, PSPs, playing cards, and other electronic devices or games at home or where they ARE NOT SEEN or heard by the teacher. • If they are confiscated I will keep them until the end of the day/ given to administration
  • 13. II Discipline B. Consequences 1. Verbal warning (3) 2. Seat change and notation on grade book. 3. Student conference, Action Plan or written assignment. 4. Parent/ guardian contact or meeting. 5. Referral to administration and parental contact. 6. SEVERE DISRUPTION or DISRESPECT immediate referral to administration.
  • 14. II Discipline C. Rewards 1. Positive verbal acknowledgement 2. Outstanding performance letter 3. Free homework pass 4. Allowed to sit next to a friend 5. Listen to music
  • 15. III Procedures and Routines A. Starting the Class Teacher will take attendance while students do the following: 1. Students are to be in their seats and ready to work by the time the tardy bell rings. 2. Copy the objectives and agenda for the day including any homework assignments on the “Daily Log” portion of their notebook. 3. Have Green Periodic table out on your desk 4. Complete bell ringer, puzzle or journal that will be on the board.  Make sure to date logs and continue on the same paper as previous journal until FRONT and BACK are used

  • 17. III Procedures & Routines B. Ending the Class 1. ONLY the teacher dismisses the class. The bell DOES NOT dismiss the class. 2. Students MUST be in their assigned seats. 3. Students MUST be quietly waiting for teacher dismissal. 4. Room and aisles MUST be clean of papers, pencils, wrappers etc. C. During class entry and exit procedures 1. WHEN GIVEN PERMISSION, student will be given a hall pass and quietly leave the class. 2. After student returns, they must give the pass back to the teacher. 3. Students can only ask permission to leave the classroom when all students are in the room. 4. Only one student is allowed to leave the class at a time. 5. Passes are not given during the first/last 15 min of class. 6. 2 passes per nine weeks
  • 18. III. Procedures and Routines D. Movement within the class 1. Remain in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise. 2. Hold any papers or materials that need to be discarded until the end of the class. 3. If necessary raise your hand to be recognized BEFORE speaking. E. Getting and storing materials and personal items 1. Book bags and other personal items should be stored NEATLY next to the student’s desk without blocking the aisle. 2. If books are not being used (i.e. during tests or quizzes) they are to be placed under the student’s seat.
  • 19. III. Procedures and Routines F. Quieting the class and getting attention 1. Raising hand 2. Standing in front of class means that I need your attention and all eyes MUST be on me. G. Responding to interruptions from visitors 1. Students will remain in their seat. 2. Students should continue working, it is NOT free time. 3. Students will make sure to be quite if they were not already working quietly until the visitor leaves. H. Calling on students 1. Students will be called at random to answer class review questions. 2. If student does not know the answer, the teacher will ask another student and then come back to the previous student. 3. All students will have a chance to participate within one to two class periods.
  • 20. III. Procedures and Routines I. Collecting and returning homework 1. Homework assignments are turned in at the beginning of class in designated tray before they get to their seats. 2. Assignments turned in after this are considered late and will receive 10 points off (1-letter grade deduction). J. Assignments that are not graded 1. teacher will check assignments and initial the top right hand corner. 2. These “checked assignments” will be collected for an extra credit grade. Accumulation of four (4) “checked assignments” is an A. Three is a B and so on. 3. For assignments to be “checked”, students must be present in class and have completed the assignment by the time that it is due. 4. “Checked assignments” cannot be made up.
  • 21. III. Procedures and Routines K. Make up assignments and tests 1. Students are responsible for any missed work assignments including notes . 2. Students are to refer to a classmate’s “Daily Log” and pick up any handouts they may have missed. 3. A class or school absence does NOT excuse the student from obtaining the notes and/or assignments. 4. Only students with excused absences will be allowed 48 hours to make up assignments. 5. Helping another teacher is NOT an excuse tardy or absence. 6. Students cannot make up assignments if the student was in school at any point during the day the assignment was due. 7. When making up a test, students are allowed one week to make up the test. 8. Students will not be permitted to make up projects or labs unless prior arrangement is made at least 48 hours or a medical emergency has occurred and can be documented.
  • 22. III. Procedures and Routines L. Tardiness 1. A student is deemed late if they are not in their seat by the time the tardy bell rings or while teacher is taking attendance. 2. Late students must show a pass from their previous teacher. 3. If you are tardy, you will be given a warning. 4. After 2nd tardy an action plan will be written. 5. After 3rd tardy, a conduct grade will be deducted and parents will be notified. 6. If problem does not improve, student will be referred to an administrator in addition to parental contact.
  • 23. III. Procedures and Routines M. Cheating Policy 1. CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. 2. Students are expected to complete all assignments on their own unless otherwise assigned by the teacher. 3. Copying or allowing someone else to copy off of their paper is considered cheating. NO PLAGIARISM 4. Students who allowed someone to copy from their assignment will receive a double F for that assignment and the copier will receive the grade for the assignment. 5. Students caught copying or allowing someone else to copy during tests or quizzes will receive a double F for that assignment. BOTH students will receive a double F.
  • 24. III. Procedures and Routines N. Fire Drill and/or movement to other areas in school 1. Students will line up inside the classroom parallel to the hallway and wait for teacher indication to leave the classroom. 2. Students are to remain quiet while walking in the hallway. 3. Students must stay with their class once they arrive to the destination.
  • 25. Grading Policy & Materials • Look at Class Rules paper for grading policy • Materials: – Must have a scientific calculator by latest Friday – Coloring pencils and markers if desired – 5 dividers 1. 1st nine weeks 2. 2nd nine weeks 3. 3rd nine weeks 4. 4th nine weeks 5.
