The music video begins by introducing each band member of The Kooks playing their instruments in front of a window. It then cuts between close-up shots of the band members playing in a plain white room. Throughout the video, the camera pans across moving images of the band to change up the shots and keep viewers engaged. The band is dressed in black against the white background to make them stand out. The video alternates between shots of the band playing and photos taken in a photo booth to maintain interest while keeping the focus on their musical performance.
2. The music videos begins with a window, and then each band member appears in front of the window holding their instrument to almost introduce themselves to their audience so we can get to know a little about them and what they do in the band. The video then cuts to short fast clips of band members with a mixture of close ups and mid shots. There is also a shot of camera film of the band in the video with moving images. It then shows the band in a plain white room setting up and tuning their instruments.
3. The camera then pans along a white background showing camera film almost floating or on an invincible table, this is used to show part of the video by the camera quickly panning along showing still images of the band in the plain white room. This makes the audience have to concentrate closely on the images if they want to understand what is going on in the video. This is all typical of an indie genre as the video is mainly performance concentrating on the band as they don’t have any detailed or distracting backgrounds. As the camera pans along the camera film the music then properly starts, this is about 14 seconds into the actual video. As the background is a plain white the band members are wearing black which makes them stand out from their background.
4. The video then cuts and pans like it did when there was the camera reel, but it changes to a train track and having it look like the band are playing under that. Then after that its cuts to look like photos from a photo booth. This makes the video a little more interesting to watch as things are frequently changing and keeping the audience interested. The videos cuts from showing clips of the band playing with the plain white background to then showing the clips of them in photos. This is all still performance but makes the video slightly more interesting and appealing to watch.
5. This music video has typical conventions of an Indie video as it is mainly performance, some Indie videos include a secondary part which would be a narrative but The Kooks, Eddies Gun is just performance. Performance videos can sometimes be boring so they have made it more interesting by using different effects and lots of cuts to keep the momentum of the video going. The video uses genre characteristics like always showing the band playing their instruments and having them dressed in Indie fashion. This makes it so the audience is certain that it is an Indie video just by seeing the band and without having to hear the actual song.
