How often do you buy music magazines?
How often do you buy music
magazines?
How do you listen to your
music?
CD's
Download
Vinyl
When I asked the students how they usually listen to
their music the majority answer was download with
70%. CD’s only had 30% of the votes and none of the
students said that they listened to music on vinyl. This
shows that download is the main way people tend to
listen to music now. Therefore when I’m making my
music magazine, my target audience won’t be
interested in articles about vinyl or if I included free
vouchers for records in my magazine. Whereas they
would much prefer a code for a free download.
What magazines do you
read?
NME
Q
Kerrang
Nylon
Rolling Stone
When asked what music magazines the students read
the overall majority was NME magazine with 60%, this
will be due to the fact that NME is the only magazine
that mainly targets a younger audience. I will need to
research into NME magazine and look at the reason
why it appeals to the students and then take inspiration
form it to use with my own music magazine. Q
magazine is the second most read magazine with 20%
of people buying t. From the results shown it states
that Nylon magazine is not purchased by any of the
students and Rolling stone and Kerrang are not that
popular with both only having 10% of the students read
them.
This indicates how often my magazine should be released due to the results given by the students. 40% of
the students said that they bought music magazines once a month and 30% said they bought then twice a
month. This suggests that I should issue my magazine either once or twice a month as students are less likely
to buy magazines weekly this could because of the low income rate they receive. None of the students
questioned said they bought magazines weekly, 20% said they didn’t buy them often meaning that they
didn’t keep up to date with making sure they had the latest magazine and 10% don’t buy music magazines at
all. This might suggest that I use an app version of my magazine to appeal to this demographic.
