1. What kind of media
institution might
distribute your
media product and
why?
2. What sort of distribution company
are you going to choose to distribute
your magazine?
I have chosen a mix of both independent and
mainstream distributors as then I can
access the places that my target audience
may be but I will also have it in
mainstream shops such as supermarkets
as then I can also access a wider audience.
3. An example of a magazine that already does this
is Kerrang magazine, they distribute to both
independent clothing chains and to large
supermarkets. I have chosen Kerrang as an
example as they have successfully
used a mix of both independent and
mainstream distributors
4. I have chosen this strategy as I want to appeal to
my target audience who aren’t stereotypically
mainstream and don’t want to buy magazines
from supermarkets but I still want to appeal to
another audience who may not necessarily
shop in individual clothing stores etc but still
don’t want to conform to stereotypes
5. My magazine will be available in a hard copy in the
retailers and it will also be available online, this is
because if a person doesn’t shop for a while then
they could miss issues at a time and The Voice
would lose a valued customer, however my
magazine will have a website and on that website
you will be able to download a copy of the
magazine. This will attract my audience of
teenagers and young adults as the society is
becoming very technologically based.
6. How will your chosen strategy impact
upon the profit your magazine will
make?
The strategy I have chosen will impact as the
magazine will have lots of space for
advertising when it is online and it will also
have space for advertising in the
magazine, although I will not dedicate too
much space. My chosen strategy will ensure
that I have many different ways of ensuring a
profit as you will also have to buy the
magazine online, you will not be able to just
download it for free.
