Emma Bradshaw. Media Studies Eval. Q5

5.) How did you attract/address your audience?
I and my group did a large amount of audience
research, to help find and understand who the
target audience are for our film. One of the main
reasons we done this was to find out the correct age
group to mainly think and come up with good ways
to help advertise our media product to the specific
age group. The audience research I collected shows
that the average age range out of our target viewers
are mainly the age between 16-17 years of age. I
then have tried to come up with different ideas of
different ways and styles me and my group could
advertise our media product to the certain age group that has been selected.

I and my group discussed what we thought would be the best time in advertising our film, after
having a few disagreements we all agreed that it should be sometime in the late afternoon/ evening,
or night as most of our target audience would be doing other things during the day such as working
or studying. We also had to take into consideration of our film being a age rated 15, meaning rated
15 films are only allowed to be displayed as advertisement during the hours of 21.00-05.30. After
finding out this vital information we decided to do our film during these hours which would not only
be following the rules and guideline but also benefitting from a target audiences schedule.

After discussing times we decided to discuss actual ways of advertising our media product Aura, in
the way many other producers have advertised their films. This way is on televisions being used to
advertise films, from growing up and watching this almost every time I watch the TV I know this is a
great and popular way to show people in a trailer of a film, including exciting and full ride emotion
parts of the film but not showing too much to the audience by giving the storyline away. The gets
the audience excited, interested, curious and hooked in the trailer as want to know what happens at
the end of the story. As the audience have only seen little pars of the film, this is leaving them
desperate in wanting to watch the rest of the films, either by going to the cinema, buying it on DVD’s
or even watching it on online websites such as love film.

We would also broadcast and advertise a brief trailer of our film viral over net, on one of the most
popular websites YouTube. This is a very good way of forming up interested viewers or informing
and interesting the target audience about our film Aura. It’s a free website meaning it wouldn’t cost
us or anybody to show or see our trailer, compared to the extremely expensive long process of
advertising it on the television. This is also a very good and crucial way of connecting to our target
audience as many people around the 16=17 age group are on the internet using YouTube, we know
this by the online questionnaire we submitted from survey monkey.

Another way we thought would be a good way of advertising Aura would be over a social networking
site like Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, I personally think this is the best way of attracting and
advertising our film , as these social networking sites are used by the younger population which is
our age range. A final way of broadcasting Aura would be from a radio station, we could ask the

presenters if they could gives us a short amount of time talking about our film and the basic
features. As a group we knew this would attract our range of our target audience.
