This presentation is about User Experience Design vs. The Visual Designer (i.e. Me)
I’ve been a designer of learning materials for nearly 14 years and in that time I’ve always seen myself as a creator of user experiences. But is that really the case?
Visual Design is pretty much the same as User Experience. It’s UI, branding, layout, colour, typography, photography, illustration, animation… and so much more. It’s everything the user sees and reads.
Makes sense, right?
Many of you will already know all this, some of you may not. But I wanted to take a moment to say what I think UXD is, what it isn’t, what it means to me and (this might sound obvious) why it matters to our industry that we do more of it.
I’m assuming everyone here is in some way involved in delivering or developing learning strategies and/or applications.

Well the fact is we are all user experience practictioners in some way. Well he’s not.
I’ll tell you why in a moment.
