The document discusses the Holocaust, which was the mass murder of approximately 6 million Jews and 5 million others by the Nazi regime during World War II. It explains that the Holocaust happened due to Nazi racism against Jews and their belief that they were superior. The Holocaust took place in Germany and other countries controlled by the Nazis, beginning in 1938 and ending in 1945. Jews were forced to live in ghettos, concentration camps, and were killed in gas chambers or by death squads working with local populations. Over 11 million people were killed in total as a result of the systematic genocide carried out by the Nazis during this period.
2. The Holocaust was the mass murder of the Jews.
The Holocaust was one of the most horrific events of the 20th
century.
• “The Holocaust is generally regarded
as the systematic slaughter of not only 6 million
Jews, (two-thirds of the total European Jewish
population), the primary victims, but also 5 million
others, approximately 11 million individuals wiped
off the Earth by the Nazi regime and its
collaborators. “
3. WHY DID THE HOLOCAUST HAPPEN?
There was really no reason
for the Holocaust to

introduced. The most commonly used
poisonous agent is hydrogen cyanide;
carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide

Gas chambers have also been used for
animal euthanasia, using carbon dioxide
as the lethal agent. Sometimes a box
filled with anaesthetic gas is used to
anaesthetize small animals for surgery or
euthanasia.
9. CONCENTRATION CAMPS
First Camp was Dachau (1933)
Originally used to torture political opponents
Became slave labor camps

Workers would be worked to death
Famous Camps: Dachau and Auschwitz
Over 15,000 Camps
