Introduction
Knowledge Management (KM) is a trans-disciplinary area that encapsulates processes and
techniques for the creation, collection, classification, distribution, evaluation and re-use of
institutional and personal knowledge. KM can help to widely share experiences, minimize
re-inventing the wheel, promote trust, and facilitate learning environment in organisations. Many
enterprises, local and international, have leveraged successfully on KM to enhance their
competitiveness and innovations in the new economy. This is achieved by, among other things,
minimizing “re-inventing the wheel”, maximizing reuse, enhancing the flow of knowledge,
harnessing and sharing of critical knowledge, and providing a learning environment for knowledge
workers. There is a critical shortage of KM professionals worldwide. With its blended mode of
delivery, this MSc programme is the first of its kind designed to meet this need and beyond in the
Asia Pacific region.
The curriculum is co-developed by an international team of leading experts and scholars in KM.
Delivery of the programme is via a balanced mix of in-person seminars and workshops, online
tutorials, and web-based study with enhanced pedagogy.
Characteristics
The programme is designed to suit professionals from various disciplines (management, IT,
engineering, social work, library science, legal, education, health care, etc.) to acquire and develop
expertise in the rapidly growing area of KM. Graduates of the programme, with appropriate
working experience, are expected to fulfill the roles of Chief Knowledge Officer, Chief Learning
Officer, Knowledge and Learning Director, Innovation Manager, Knowledge Manager, and
consultants in various capacities; they carry out, among others, knowledge audits and implement
knowledge management programmes in companies and organisations.
Curriculum & mode
Designed to offer participants with the maximum flexibility, participants can select one of the
following two modes to complete their studies with a total of 30 credits:
TEN taught subjects -

SEVEN taught subjects -
