The good news is - if you want to join this elite club, its membership is growing. According to the Wealth-X and UBS Billionaire Census 2014, the world’s population of billionaires increased 7% last year to reach a record high of 2,325 billionaires. world, with a combined wealth of $152 billion.

12. The Walton wealth was inherited from Bud and Sam Walton,
founders of Walmart. The Walton
heirs own over 50% of the
company.

but inheritance alone is generally not enough.

made the majority of their fortune themselves,
