4. Visualizing recommendations
The student will investigate how novel visualizations can
significantly improve user understanding of the typically
”black‐box” rationale behind recommendations, in order
to increase their perceived relevancy and meaning.
In addition, she will research how novel user feedback
approaches can empower users with actionable
knowledge to become an active and responsible part‐
taker in the recommending process, instead of being the
typical passive provider of preferences and social
connections.

7. Visualizing Linked Open Data
The student will research how linked open data (about
researchers, publications, affiliations, etc.) can be merged
and visualized in a way that enables interested parties to
explore the available information and link it to their own
research activities.
