Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization that develops free copyright licenses that allow creators to share their work and let others use it in certain ways. The licenses were created by Stanford law professor Lawrence Lessig to liberate intellectual property so it can inspire new creative works. There are four main types of Creative Commons licenses that allow for attribution, sharing alike, non-commercial use, and no derivatives. 8. License Versions There are four types of licenses : Licenses 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 1.0 licenses are just the initial version released in 2002. 2.0-2004, 2.5-2005, 3.0-2007.
