Heretofore, creative services were often provided
by actors working in semi-isolation, producing
works of beauty and pragmatism.
We have been conditioned to overvalue the the
most highly visible, assertive and celebrity-like
behavior, thus marginalizing the autonomous
thinkers.
A re-invented model for the “introvert” will lead
to a more noncomformist, innovative and
imaginative designer ideal.

Businesses who employ many artists, designers, and other imaginative types often display a preference for
extroversion. “We want to attract creative people,” the director of human resources at a major media company told
me. When I asked what she meant by “creative,: she answered without missing a beat.
