The problem with all levels of government is they have put the cart before horse when it comes to their climate change policies. The focus should be on strategy that phases out fossil fuels over time. There also needs to be viable technology without direct government subsidies as part of transforming the power grid and transportation sector Recycling and waste management need to adopt more technology as part of reducing the volume of garbage going into landfill sites and/or dumped into waterways. Waterways need to be better protected from garbage and sewage. Developing more supply of critical metals like Lithium needs to be top of the agenda. Lithium prices have skyrocketed over the past few years.

The public sector needs to reform its model including stronger crisis and risk management planning and analysis, creating new a compliance group that ensures all oversight agencies are free from partisan policies, governments need to learn to live within its means, all program spending should undertake a program review, taxation focus should be on tax fairness, policies should address issues like wage reform or pension reform or other reforms.

It is a journey through different conflicts intertwined with the 40-year-old battle between two neighbouring districts in Tripoli - Lebanon: - Bab al-Tabbaneh - a Sunni/Salafi stronghold - Jabal Mohsen - the Alawite enclave that overlooks it At the centre of it: Syria Street - the vantage point from which we can observe and understand local, regional and global conflicts - the access point of our story It is a war between neighbours - that fight each other since the Lebanese civil war (1975 – 1990) for control over the town - whose destiny has always been influenced by the relation with Syria which occupied Lebanon from 1976 to 2005 It is a war influenced by the Syrian conflict. - where Salafi militias are fighting the Damascus Alawite regime - and which worsened given the massive arrival of Syrian refugees in Lebanon - more than 1.1 million - since the local Alawites feel more threatened by a growing Sunni presence A war that has global consequences. - The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) is trying to extend its power over Tripoli in order to acquire access to the Mediterranean sea. - Tripoli is also the stage of the deadly competition between IS and al-Qaeda for the leadership of the global jihadi movement It is a story told by the people involved - by walking down the streets of Tripoli you will discover the conflicts through the eyes of ordinary people and their leaders. - if you want to contribute to the story, do share your contents with us!

La crise qui hante le monde entier depuis 2007/2008 a profondément et durablement affecté notre moral, notre vision de la vie, ainsi que notre capacité à imaginer le futur, sans que cela soit forcément négatif… Ipsos -une des plus prestigieuses sociétés d’études internationales- observe et documente les changements sociaux en France et en Italie depuis plusieurs années dans une collection « Ipsos Flair », dont l’objectif est de comprendre pour anticiper. Des derniers rapports parus, il émerge que si la France est une mosaïque de « sociétés funambules », l’Italie est désormais « un pays sans intermédiaires » et, dans les deux cas, l’individualisme s’est fortement accentué au détriment des instances de représentation sociales et politiques. Convaincu de l’importance de cette analyse, qui nous concerne tous et en particulier les italiens qui vivent et travaillent en France, l’IEP (Italian Executives in Paris), organise à Paris le 25 septembre 2014 une conférence-débat autour du thème « Français et Italiens face à la crise : perceptions et perspectives ».
