The document discusses monitoring and control systems used for burglar alarm systems. It describes how such systems continuously monitor sensors to detect intruders and then execute actions like switching on lights, calling the police, and switching to a backup power source. An example burglar alarm system monitors doors, windows, and motion with various sensors and controls hardware to sound alarms and notify authorities if an intrusion is detected.

2. • An important category of Real Time Systems.
• Continuously checks the sensors and Executes
actions depending on sensor values.
• Monitoring systems examine sensors and
report their results.
• Control systems take sensor values and
control hardware actuators.
4. • System is required to monitor sensors on
doors and windows to detect the presence of
intruders in a building.
• When a sensor indicates a break-in, the
system switches on lights around the area and
calls police automatically.
• The system include provision for operation
without a mains power supply.
5. Components of Burglar Alarm System
• Used to prevent strangers.
• Door alarms
– Two parts
• Sensor mounted on the frame of the door or
embedded directly into the wood.
• Magnet- mounted or embedded on the floor itself
(holds the sensor’s trigger in place).
• When the door is open, the magnet pulls away from
the sensor, and activating the alarm.
6. Sensors:
Movement detectors
Window sensor, door sensor
Voltage drop sensor
Totally 50 window, 30 door and 200 movement
detectors are available.
Actions:
When a intruder is detected, police are called
automatically.
Lights are switched on in rooms with active sensors.
Audible alarm is switched on.
The system switches automatically to backup power
when a voltage drop is detected.
