7. The Christian era began in 1492. The Spanish introduced a different moral code :
baptism, the mass, concepts of god and evil, the idea of heaven and hell, the virgin
and saints.
The priestly labor was to teach Indians about the bible and baptize them. This
made Indias to feel confused but little by little, they lost their beliefs and got
the new religion.
So it stopped human sacrifice and rituals, the colonists built churches and the
priest had a great power and influence.
8. When Christopher Columbus came to America, he promised the queen of
Spain to give her gold.
For this reason, Spanish took indian as slaves to guide him to find gold.
IF Indias found gold, they received a copper necklace , but on the contray ,
Spanish cut their hands off.
Some time later, they realized there wasn’t enough gold , so Indians were
taken for slavery.
Labor : they worked in agriculture with no payment. This was the
Encomienda, and obrajes. Where they made textils for the Spanish.
Indians used to work day and night until they died.
