The Spanish Civil War caused widespread destruction and loss of life. It divided the country into two factions fighting for control of Spain. The war had severe demographic, economic, social, and moral consequences including increased mortality, reduced birth rates, destruction of infrastructure, loss of economic rights for workers, and generations scarred by the suffering of the conflict and subsequent repression.

hegemony by the landowner , industrial and financial oligarchy. In

8. Moral consequences:
• Generations marked by the suffering of war and repression of the
long war
• The Franco regime never sought reconciliation between Spanish and
always remembered and celebrated its military origin. The wounds of
