1. A Short Message
Dear Friends,
Historically, the 7 agencies and 6 frontier regions—associated with the name of
FATA—have enjoyed a glorious past in terms of freedom of movement and in
opposition to the imperialism of the East India Company. Following independence,
FATA citizens became known as the “tribal people of no go area” and FATA was
declared part of Pakistan as per Article 1 of 1973 constitution.
But thanks to Article 247, the citizens of FATA are being deprived of their basic human
rights, rule of law, justice and administration equal to what other Pakistanis enjoy. For
this reason, forces from all over the world are focusing on FATA. The chaos there is
growing each day and has become a security risk for all of Pakistan. Therefore, the
FATA Lawyers Forum has initiated a struggle entitled: Rule of Law in FATA.
We appeal to the brave and patriotic lawyers of this country. Just as we have struggled
for the independence of the judiciary and succeeded without fear of death, now again
we must struggle again for the sake of 10 million FATA citizens. The judiciary must
be extended to FATA. The 65-year-old bureaucratic mind set must be eliminated and
the enforcement of law and justice must be ensured. We are deeply thankful to all
lawyers for making this movement a success.
