Introduction of Cloud Storage
The definition of Cloud Storage is a model of networked enterprise storage where data
is stored not only in the user's computer, but in virtualized pools of storage which are
generally hosted by third parties, too. Hosting companies operate large data centers, and
people who require their data to be hosted buy or lease storage capacity from them. The
data center operators, in the background, virtualize the resources according to the
requirements of the customer and expose them as storage pools, which the customers can
themselves use to store files or data objects. Physically, the resource may span across
multiple servers. The safety of the files depends upon the hosting websites.
Cloud storage services may be accessed through a web service application
programming interface (API), a cloud storage gateway or through a Web-based user
interface. Cloud storage may be cost-efficient for many corporations and small businesses
for everyday use, but for the average user of the computer and internet, the costs of cloud
storage may outweigh its benefits. As a result users have other alternatives of storage such
as: a)Local wired hard drive
b)Local wireless hard drive
c)External USB hard drive.
There are a variety of free cloud storage options on the market. Many vendors want
customers to sign up for their services. So, in return for a new account, many offer free cloud
storage.
There are six types of cloud storage that we can explore. There are slide share,
picasa, google drive, just cloud, you tube and scribd.
SlideShare
What is SlideShare ?
SlideShare is a Web 2.0 based slide hosting service. Users can upload files privately
or publicly in the following file formats: PowerPoint, PDF, Keynote or Open Document
presentations.
Who created this cloud storage?
There are three person that create this Cloud Storage. They are Venrock, David
Siminoff and Dev Khare.
When the cloud storage has been launched?
This Cloud Storage has been launched on October 4, 2006.The website is considered
to be similar to YouTube, but for slideshows.
Where this Cloud Storage used?
This Cloud Storage originally meant to be used for businesses to share slides among
employees more easily.
The website gets an estimated 58 million unique visitors a month, and has about 16
million registered users. Slide share was voted among the World's Top 10 tools for education
& e-learning in 2010.SlideShare's biggest competitors include Scribd.com, Issuu and
Docstoc. Some of the notable users of Slide share include The White House, NASA, World
Economic Forum, State of Utah, O'Reilly Media, Hewlett Packard and IBM.
In February 2011 SlideShare added a feature called Zipcasts. A Zipcast is a social
web conferencing system that allows presenters to broadcast an audio/video feed while
driving the presentation through the Internet. Zipcasts also allows users to communicate
during the presentation via an inbuilt chat function.
Zipcasts do not currently support screen sharing with the presenter, a feature
available in competing paid services like WebEx and GoToMeeting. Additionally, presenters
using Zipcasts are not able to control the flow of a presentation allowing viewers to navigate
back and forth through the slides themselves.
How to sign up this Cloud Storage?
There are six steps to upload a slideshow to SlideShare:
1) Log in or register by download free software.
2) We must make sure your slideshow meets file type and size requirements like .pdf,
pps, .ppsx, .potx, . odp, and .key presentation files with a maximum size of 100MB.
3) Navigate to the upload page by selecting the “Upload” button from the top toolbar.
4) Choose whether to upload privately or publicly. If we do not have a paid account,
we will only be able to upload publicly, which means that anyone can view our
slideshow.
5) Find our presentation on our computer and upload to SlideShare. As the file is
being uploaded and converted, fill in any details that we wish to add:
title
tags (use terms related to the topic of your slideshow, separated by commas)
category
description
allow file download (this will determine whether people who view the slideshow are allowed
to download it to their computers)
6) Review our presentation. From the screen, we also have the option to share the
slideshow with your friends via social media by clicking on the buttons to the right. To
embed the slideshow on your blog or website, click on the embeb code, select all,
copy, and then paste wherever you want the slideshow to show up.
Picasa
What is Picasa?
Picasa is an image organizer and image viewer for organizing and editing digital
photos, pliu an integrated photo-sharing website. “ Picasa” is a blend of the name of Spanish
painter Pablo Picasso, the phrase mi casa ( Spanish for “my house”) and “pic” for pictures
personalized art.
Who is created this Cloud Storage ?
This Cloud Storage had created by a company named Lifescape which at that time may
have resided at Idea lab.
When this Cloud Storage has been launched ?
This Cloud Storage has launched in 2002 and owned by Google since 2004. In July
2004, Google acquired Picasa from its original author and began offering it as freeware.
Where this Cloud Storage used?
Usually use as native applications for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7,
and Mac OS X (Intel only) are available from Google .
How to sign up this Cloud Storage?
5 easy steps to start with one of your own and begin your online photo library:
1) Create an account or sign into your Google account using your GMail username and
password at http://picasaweb.google.com.
2) At the upper left corner you’d see My Photos, My Favorites, & My Public Gallery. You
can click any of these links when you’ve got photos uploaded into your account.
3) To begin uploading your first sets of photos, click the upload button on the upper-right
side of the website.
4) You then must first choose to create a new album and/or to upload your photo into an
existing album.
5) And the fifth step is to choose the actual photos and click OK/Upload.
Google Drive
What is Google Drive ?
Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service provided by Google. Google
Drive is now the home of Google Docs, a suite of productivity applications, that offer
collaborative editing on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more.
Who created this Cloud Storage?
Google has only one, unified terms of service and privacy policy for all its products.
According to CNET, unlike competing services Dropbox and SkyDrive, Google retains a
more broad claim to reproduce, use, and create derivative works from content stored on the
Google Drive. This license is perpetual even after removal of content. Although the user
retains intellectual property rights, the broad Google Drive license allows extraction and
parsing of uploaded content to customize advertising and other services that Google
provides to the user, and for promoting the service.
The broad nature of Google's claim to uploaded files also allows for usability
improvements, such as creating modified versions of uploaded content which are more
suitable for various use cases. For example, transcoding an uploaded video into multiple
formats more suitable for viewing on a phone or different web browsers. Another report
from The Verge finds that Google's terms are quite comparable to those of its competitors,
and slightly better in some cases.
When this Cloud Storage has been launched ?
This Cloud Storage released on April 24, 2012, which enables user cloud storage, file
sharing and collaborative editing. Rumors about Google Drive began circulating as early as
March 2006. Files shared publicly on Google Drive can be searched with web search
engines.
Where this Cloud Storage used ?
For Google Drive to synchronize files on the user's computer in the cloud, the Google
Drive client software must be running on the user's computer. The client will communicate
with the Google Drive online, and ensure that files are synchronized in both locations.
At launch, Google Drive client software was available for the following devices: on
PCs running Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 with NTFS partitions, or Mac OS X
Lion (10.7) and Snow Leopard(10.6); on Android smartphones and tablets with Eclair and
newer OSes (Android 2.1+); on iPhones andiPads, iOS 5.0+. Work on Linux client software is
underway. According to Sundar Pichai of Google, the Google Drive online storage service
will be tightly integrated with Chrome OS version 20.
There are third-party Google Drive application programs ("apps") that can be installed
from the Chrome Web Store. These applications, running in Google Chrome, operate on the
online files, and can be used to edit images and videos, fax and sign documents, manage
projects, create flowcharts, etc.
How to sign up this Cloud Storage?
1) Sign into Google Drive with Google account at http://drive.google.com. If you’re a Gmail
user, you can use your Gmail account to sign in. There’s a red sign-up button on the top
right-hand comer of the login page if you don’t have a Google account.
2)Once you’re launched Google Drive in your web browser, you will be taken to a page that
shows all of the Google Documents you currently have associated with your Google account.
A tab will pop up asking if you would like to download Google Drive for PC or Mac whichever
system you are currently on. Do so if you’d like to access your documents from more than
your web browser. However, you don’t have use this option.

When this Cloud Storage launched ?
At April 1, 2012 the cloud storage market could be set for big shockwaves to be sent
through it when Google Drive, or GDrive to some, is released this week. Well, that’s when
insiders have assumed that the new cloud storage system coming from one of the biggest
firms in the world is to be released. There is apparently set to be 1GB of free cloud storage
space but the option of additional space can be purchased at a fee, however this will be
unknown until Google to finally release their new system for the world to see.
It is expected that the new cloud storage system will compete very well when it is
released due to the sheer size of the firm behind it. Some experts are even predicting the
success of the new Google cloud storage system to rival the success of the Amazon cloud
storage system which has done ridiculously well ever since its release. It is also expected
that Google’s new cloud storage system will be very simple and easy to use, and it is likely
that they will charge a very low price to establish themselves in the market. Either way it is
sure to shake up the cloud storage market.
Where this Cloud Storage used ?
Automatically sync files across computers. You decide which files and folders you
want to sync and Just Cloud works in the background to sync them to the cloud. Access your
files wherever, whenever through our online control panel, mobile apps or mobile optimized
site. Never be without your files again.
How to sign up this Cloud Storage?
There are two steps to sign up this Cloud Storage. There are :
1) Just Cloud is a relatively new online backup and synchronization service. Founded in
2010, the Just Cloud team thought about how to revolutionize online backup and make it
more accessible for everyone. They came up with the idea of unlimited online
backup, as this is the easiest way to organize your files. Granted, the idea of unlimited
online backup is not new: Carbonite and Backblaze also offer unlimited online backup.
So there is some competition in the space and we are going to see whether Just Cloud
can live up to our expectations.
2) It is very compelling to combine backup and synchronization in one solution. Yes,
backups are necessary, but I also need my files across multiple devices: for my
personal use I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro. At work, I tend to work with a
Windows PC. So I have at least 3 devices that I need to sync data across. Fortunately,
Just Cloud comes with a 1-GB free syncing space. 1 GB is not much, but certainly
enough for the occasional syncing of documents or PowerPoint presentations. If you
need more space you can extend your syncing folder up to 20 GB, at an additional
cost.
If there is something to criticize about Just Cloud it would be that they want you to buy
additional features that are not necessary, such as priority backup, which is supposed to
increase your backup speed. However, backup speed relies heavily on your own Internet
connection and this is the bottleneck for most of the users.

What is Just Cloud ?
Scribd is a document-sharing website that allows users to post documents of various
formats, and embed them into a web page using its iPaper format.
Who created this Cloud Storage ?
Scribd was founded by Trip Adler, Tikhon Bernstam, and Jared Friedman. The idea for
Scribd was originally inspired when Trip Adler was at Harvard and had a conversation with
his father, John R. Adler, about the difficulties of publishing academic papers. He teamed up
with confounders Jared Friedman and Tikhon Bernstam and they attended Y Combinator in
Cambridge in the summer of 2006.
When this Cloud Storage has been launched ?
Scribd was founded in 2006. Scribd's major competitors are Slideshare,Docstoc,
edocr, WePapers, and Issuu. Scribd was launched from a San Francisco apartment in March
2007 and quickly grew in traffic. In 2008, it ranked as one of the top 20 social media sites
according to Comscore. In June 2009, Scribd launched Scribd Store, and shortly thereafter
closed a deal with Simon & Schuster to sell ebooks on Scribd. Over 150 publishers
including Random House, Wiley, Workman, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Pearson, Harvard
University Press and Stanford University Press are now associated with
Scribd. ProQuest began publishing dissertations and theses on Scribd in December 2009.
In October 2009, Scribd launched its branded reader for media companies
with The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Huffington
Post, TechCrunch and MediaBistro. Over 100 media companies now use Scribd’s branded
reader to embed source material into their stories. In February 2010, Scribd unveiled its first
mobile plans for e-readers and smartphones. In April 2010 Scribd launched a new feature
called "Readcast", which allows automatic sharing of documents
on Facebook and Twitter. Also in April 2010, Scribd announced its integration of Facebook
social plug-ins at the Facebook f8 Developer Conference.
Where this Cloud Storage used ?
Scribd used iPaper, which is a rich document format similar to PDF built for the web,
which allows users to embed documents into a web page. iPaper was built with Adobe Flash,
allowing it to be viewed the same across different operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, and
Linux) without conversion, as long as the reader has Flash installed (although Scribd has
announced non-Flash support for the iPhone). All major document types can be formatted
into iPaper .

YouTube
What is YouTube ?
YouTube is a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees in
February 2005 and owned by Google since late 2006, on which users can upload, view and
share videos. The company is based in San Bruno, California, and uses Adobe Flash
Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content,
including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video
blogging, short original videos, and educational videos.
Who created this Cloud Storage ?
YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who were all
early employees of PayPal. Hurley had studied design at Indiana University of Pennsylvania,
while Chen and Karim studied computer science together at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign.
When this Cloud Storage launched ?
According to a story that has often been repeated in the media, Hurley and Chen
developed the idea for YouTube during the early months of 2005, after they had experienced
difficulty sharing videos that had been shot at a dinner party at Chen's apartment in San
Francisco. Karim did not attend the party and denied that it had occurred, while Chen
commented that the idea that YouTube was founded after a dinner party "was probably very
strengthened by marketing ideas around creating a story that was very digestible".
Where this Cloud Storage used ?
All YouTube users can upload videos up to 15 minutes each in duration. Users who
have a good track record of complying with the site's Community Guidelines may be offered
the ability to upload videos up to 12 hours in length, which requires verifying the account,
normally through a mobile phone. When YouTube was launched in 2005, it was possible to
upload long videos, but a ten-minute limit was introduced in March 2006 after YouTube found
that the majority of videos exceeding this length were unauthorized uploads of television
shows and films. The 10-minute limit was increased to 15 minutes in July 2010. File size is
limited to 2 GB for uploads from the YouTube web page, or 20 GB if up-to-date browser
versions are used.
How to sign up this Cloud Storage?
YouTube allows users to search and browse millions of community and comment, rate
and make video responses to your favorite videos, upload and share your videos with
millions of other users and save your favorite videos to watch and share later. Here is how to
make a YouTube account:
1)Visit the YouTube site in order to get started.
2)Click on the "Sign in" button in the upper-right corner of the home page.
3)Click on the “Create an account” button in the upper-right corner of the page.
If you already have a Gmail account, should have a YouTube account. Use your Gmail
username and password to log into YouTube.
4)Fill out the requisite information. Fill out your e-mail address, user name, date of birth,
gender and click “I Accept”.
5)Supply a phone number for verification that you are not a machine, if prompted. To cut
down on fake accounts or accounts managed by bots, Google sometimes will make you
provide verification.
6)Type in the verification code, if necessary.
7)Decorate your YouTube page. On your profile page, you can add a main picture and your
own background, among other things. Try to express yourself.
8)Start enjoying the perks of an account. Once you have signed up for a YouTube account,
you can:
Track your favorite users by subscribing to their channel.
Manage your favorite tracks, videos, and online episodes.
Comment on videos and socialize with other members of the community.

  • 3. Introduction of Cloud Storage The definition of Cloud Storage is a model of networked enterprise storage where data is stored not only in the user's computer, but in virtualized pools of storage which are generally hosted by third parties, too. Hosting companies operate large data centers, and people who require their data to be hosted buy or lease storage capacity from them. The data center operators, in the background, virtualize the resources according to the requirements of the customer and expose them as storage pools, which the customers can themselves use to store files or data objects. Physically, the resource may span across multiple servers. The safety of the files depends upon the hosting websites. Cloud storage services may be accessed through a web service application programming interface (API), a cloud storage gateway or through a Web-based user interface. Cloud storage may be cost-efficient for many corporations and small businesses for everyday use, but for the average user of the computer and internet, the costs of cloud storage may outweigh its benefits. As a result users have other alternatives of storage such as: a)Local wired hard drive b)Local wireless hard drive c)External USB hard drive. There are a variety of free cloud storage options on the market. Many vendors want customers to sign up for their services. So, in return for a new account, many offer free cloud storage. There are six types of cloud storage that we can explore. There are slide share, picasa, google drive, just cloud, you tube and scribd.
  • 4. SlideShare What is SlideShare ? SlideShare is a Web 2.0 based slide hosting service. Users can upload files privately or publicly in the following file formats: PowerPoint, PDF, Keynote or Open Document presentations. Who created this cloud storage? There are three person that create this Cloud Storage. They are Venrock, David Siminoff and Dev Khare. When the cloud storage has been launched? This Cloud Storage has been launched on October 4, 2006.The website is considered to be similar to YouTube, but for slideshows. Where this Cloud Storage used? This Cloud Storage originally meant to be used for businesses to share slides among employees more easily. The website gets an estimated 58 million unique visitors a month, and has about 16 million registered users. Slide share was voted among the World's Top 10 tools for education & e-learning in 2010.SlideShare's biggest competitors include Scribd.com, Issuu and Docstoc. Some of the notable users of Slide share include The White House, NASA, World Economic Forum, State of Utah, O'Reilly Media, Hewlett Packard and IBM. In February 2011 SlideShare added a feature called Zipcasts. A Zipcast is a social web conferencing system that allows presenters to broadcast an audio/video feed while driving the presentation through the Internet. Zipcasts also allows users to communicate during the presentation via an inbuilt chat function. Zipcasts do not currently support screen sharing with the presenter, a feature available in competing paid services like WebEx and GoToMeeting. Additionally, presenters using Zipcasts are not able to control the flow of a presentation allowing viewers to navigate back and forth through the slides themselves.

  • 9. Google Drive What is Google Drive ? Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service provided by Google. Google Drive is now the home of Google Docs, a suite of productivity applications, that offer collaborative editing on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more. Who created this Cloud Storage? Google has only one, unified terms of service and privacy policy for all its products. According to CNET, unlike competing services Dropbox and SkyDrive, Google retains a more broad claim to reproduce, use, and create derivative works from content stored on the Google Drive. This license is perpetual even after removal of content. Although the user retains intellectual property rights, the broad Google Drive license allows extraction and parsing of uploaded content to customize advertising and other services that Google provides to the user, and for promoting the service. The broad nature of Google's claim to uploaded files also allows for usability improvements, such as creating modified versions of uploaded content which are more suitable for various use cases. For example, transcoding an uploaded video into multiple formats more suitable for viewing on a phone or different web browsers. Another report from The Verge finds that Google's terms are quite comparable to those of its competitors, and slightly better in some cases. When this Cloud Storage has been launched ? This Cloud Storage released on April 24, 2012, which enables user cloud storage, file sharing and collaborative editing. Rumors about Google Drive began circulating as early as March 2006. Files shared publicly on Google Drive can be searched with web search engines.
  • 10. Where this Cloud Storage used ? For Google Drive to synchronize files on the user's computer in the cloud, the Google Drive client software must be running on the user's computer. The client will communicate with the Google Drive online, and ensure that files are synchronized in both locations. At launch, Google Drive client software was available for the following devices: on PCs running Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 with NTFS partitions, or Mac OS X Lion (10.7) and Snow Leopard(10.6); on Android smartphones and tablets with Eclair and newer OSes (Android 2.1+); on iPhones andiPads, iOS 5.0+. Work on Linux client software is underway. According to Sundar Pichai of Google, the Google Drive online storage service will be tightly integrated with Chrome OS version 20. There are third-party Google Drive application programs ("apps") that can be installed from the Chrome Web Store. These applications, running in Google Chrome, operate on the online files, and can be used to edit images and videos, fax and sign documents, manage projects, create flowcharts, etc. How to sign up this Cloud Storage? 1) Sign into Google Drive with Google account at http://drive.google.com. If you’re a Gmail user, you can use your Gmail account to sign in. There’s a red sign-up button on the top right-hand comer of the login page if you don’t have a Google account.
  • 11. 2)Once you’re launched Google Drive in your web browser, you will be taken to a page that shows all of the Google Documents you currently have associated with your Google account. A tab will pop up asking if you would like to download Google Drive for PC or Mac whichever system you are currently on. Do so if you’d like to access your documents from more than your web browser. • 13. When this Cloud Storage launched ? At April 1, 2012 the cloud storage market could be set for big shockwaves to be sent through it when Google Drive, or GDrive to some, is released this week. Well, that’s when insiders have assumed that the new cloud storage system coming from one of the biggest firms in the world is to be released. There is apparently set to be 1GB of free cloud storage space but the option of additional space can be purchased at a fee, however this will be unknown until Google to finally release their new system for the world to see. It is expected that the new cloud storage system will compete very well when it is released due to the sheer size of the firm behind it. Some experts are even predicting the success of the new Google cloud storage system to rival the success of the Amazon cloud storage system which has done ridiculously well ever since its release. It is also expected that Google’s new cloud storage system will be very simple and easy to use, and it is likely that they will charge a very low price to establish themselves in the market. Either way it is sure to shake up the cloud storage market. Where this Cloud Storage used ? Automatically sync files across computers. You decide which files and folders you want to sync and Just Cloud works in the background to sync them to the cloud. Access your files wherever, whenever through our online control panel, mobile apps or mobile optimized site. Never be without your files again. How to sign up this Cloud Storage? There are two steps to sign up this Cloud Storage. There are : 1) Just Cloud is a relatively new online backup and synchronization service. Founded in 2010, the Just Cloud team thought about how to revolutionize online backup and make it more accessible for everyone. They came up with the idea of unlimited online backup, as this is the easiest way to organize your files. Granted, the idea of unlimited online backup is not new: Carbonite and Backblaze also offer unlimited online backup. So there is some competition in the space and we are going to see whether Just Cloud can live up to our expectations.
  • 14. 2) It is very compelling to combine backup and synchronization in one solution. Yes, backups are necessary, but I also need my files across multiple devices: for my personal use I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro. At work, I tend to work with a Windows PC. So I have at least 3 devices that I need to sync data across. Fortunately, Just Cloud comes with a 1-GB free syncing space. 1 GB is not much, but certainly enough for the occasional syncing of documents or PowerPoint presentations. If you need more space you can extend your syncing folder up to 20 GB, at an additional cost. If there is something to criticize about Just Cloud it would be that they want you to buy additional features that are not necessary, such as priority backup, which is supposed to increase your backup speed. However, backup speed relies heavily on your own Internet connection and this is the bottleneck for most of the users. Free sign up
  • 15. Scribd What is Just Cloud ? Scribd is a document-sharing website that allows users to post documents of various formats, and embed them into a web page using its iPaper format. Who created this Cloud Storage ? Scribd was founded by Trip Adler, Tikhon Bernstam, and Jared Friedman. The idea for Scribd was originally inspired when Trip Adler was at Harvard and had a conversation with his father, John R. Adler, about the difficulties of publishing academic papers. He teamed up with confounders Jared Friedman and Tikhon Bernstam and they attended Y Combinator in Cambridge in the summer of 2006. When this Cloud Storage has been launched ? Scribd was founded in 2006. Scribd's major competitors are Slideshare,Docstoc, edocr, WePapers, and Issuu. Scribd was launched from a San Francisco apartment in March 2007 and quickly grew in traffic. In 2008, it ranked as one of the top 20 social media sites according to Comscore. In June 2009, Scribd launched Scribd Store, and shortly thereafter closed a deal with Simon & Schuster to sell ebooks on Scribd. Over 150 publishers including Random House, Wiley, Workman, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Pearson, Harvard University Press and Stanford University Press are now associated with Scribd. ProQuest began publishing dissertations and theses on Scribd in December 2009. In October 2009, Scribd launched its branded reader for media companies with The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Huffington Post, TechCrunch and MediaBistro. Over 100 media companies now use Scribd’s branded reader to embed source material into their stories. In February 2010, Scribd unveiled its first mobile plans for e-readers and smartphones. In April 2010 Scribd launched a new feature called "Readcast", which allows automatic sharing of documents on Facebook and Twitter. Also in April 2010, Scribd announced its integration of Facebook social plug-ins at the Facebook f8 Developer Conference.
  • 16. Where this Cloud Storage used ? Scribd used iPaper, which is a rich document format similar to PDF built for the web, which allows users to embed documents into a web page. iPaper was built with Adobe Flash, allowing it to be viewed the same across different operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, and Linux) without conversion, as long as the reader has Flash installed (although Scribd has announced non-Flash support for the iPhone). All major document types can be formatted into iPaper . How to sign up this Cloud Storage? To get started, first create a Scribd account (it’s free) athttp://www.scribd.com/. You can then continue with the following steps: 1. Once you have created and activated your account, login and click on the Upload button in your navigation. 2. • 18. YouTube What is YouTube ? YouTube is a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005 and owned by Google since late 2006, on which users can upload, view and share videos. The company is based in San Bruno, California, and uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video blogging, short original videos, and educational videos. Who created this Cloud Storage ? YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who were all early employees of PayPal. Hurley had studied design at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, while Chen and Karim studied computer science together at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. When this Cloud Storage launched ? According to a story that has often been repeated in the media, Hurley and Chen developed the idea for YouTube during the early months of 2005, after they had experienced difficulty sharing videos that had been shot at a dinner party at Chen's apartment in San Francisco. Karim did not attend the party and denied that it had occurred, while Chen commented that the idea that YouTube was founded after a dinner party "was probably very strengthened by marketing ideas around creating a story that was very digestible". Where this Cloud Storage used ? All YouTube users can upload videos up to 15 minutes each in duration. Users who have a good track record of complying with the site's Community Guidelines may be offered the ability to upload videos up to 12 hours in length, which requires verifying the account, normally through a mobile phone. When YouTube was launched in 2005, it was possible to upload long videos, but a ten-minute limit was introduced in March 2006 after YouTube found that the majority of videos exceeding this length were unauthorized uploads of television shows and films. The 10-minute limit was increased to 15 minutes in July 2010. File size is
  • 19. limited to 2 GB for uploads from the YouTube web page, or 20 GB if up-to-date browser versions are used. How to sign up this Cloud Storage?
