Beginning January 15 through February 28, consumers can purchase the quot;Dreamquot; gift card and The Home Depot will donate
five percent of sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million. This donation will go toward building a
permanent home for the personal papers of Dr. King and will be a critical part of the exhibition offering at the Center for Civil
and Human Rights.
quot;The building of this historic exhibition is an endeavor that aligns directly with our company's core values of celebrating
diversity, practicing inclusion and serving our local communities,quot; said Marvin Ellison, executive vice president of U.S. Stores.
quot;Over the past few years, The Home Depot has made a significant investment to help acquire these historic documents. We
look forward to building a home for this piece of American history that will live right here in our own backyard.quot;
In June 2006, The Home Depot helped to bring the King Papers to Atlanta by donating $1 million to help acquire the historic
papers. The donation from the quot;Dreamquot; gift card sales will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for an extensive
collection of 10,000 original documents by Dr. King, including 7,000 handwritten notes, drafts of his quot;I Have a Dreamquot; speech,
his quot;Letter from a Birmingham Jail,quot; and other theological writings.
In addition, The Home Depot will continue its efforts to commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by posting a
personal message from Atlanta's Mayor Shirley Franklin and The Home Depot's Executive Vice President of U.S. Stores Marvin
Ellison about this mission at youtube.com/homedepot. Viewers who visit the site can also share how they would use their
quot;Dreamquot; gift card to service their community via video responses.
