This document defines and describes several types of bone fractures, including comminuted fractures which splinter the bone, greenstick fractures which only partially break the bone, compound fractures which break the skin, and simple fractures without open wounds. It also covers impacted fractures where the bone is pressed into itself, as well as transverse, oblique, and spiral fractures characterized by the angle and curvature of the fracture line.
