Children in the U.S.A. attend three different types of schools between the ages of 6-16: elementary school from ages 6-12, junior high school from ages 12-15, and high school from ages 15-18. The school day typically begins in the morning and ends in the afternoon, with lunch in between. Students have homework each evening and take subjects like math, English, history, geography, science, and P.E. American students collect credits for each course instead of taking exams, and need 120 credits total to graduate from high school. About 50% of students continue on to university.
