2. Purpose of this lab Your eyes are precious. We’ll be using chemicals in this lab that can damage your eyes very seriously. In this lab we’ll look at what acid can do to your eyes.

3. Safety considerations Wear your goggles AT ALL TIMES If you get acid on your skin, wash it off quickly with plenty of water – do not freak out and cause another accident, just do it quickly Do not eat or drink at the lab benches Wear an apron AT ALL TIMES

4. Procedure Draw an eye on the bottom of the petri dish with a permanent marker Add just enough egg whites to cover the bottom of the petri dish.

5. Procedure Add 3 drops of acid to the egg white. Write down your observations

6. Analysis Why do you think we used egg whites? Write your answer in your lab books.

7. Cleanup Pour all of the eggwhites out of your petri dish into the container marked EGGWHITE waste. Wash out your petri dishes and return.
