Facebook Insights is a tool to help you
understand your page's performance from
measured data. Facebook has now implemented
a new version of Page Insights that makes it
easier to understand how your page is doing and
who’s engaging with your posts.
Here’s how to read
the new Facebook
Page Insights and
what to do
afterwards.
4. If you’re marketing on
Facebook, you’ve probably
taken a dip into your Page
Insights. And, after seeing
something like this, you may
have closed the window and
never gone back:
The Overview
Page
4
The new overview tab gives a summary of recent activity on
your Facebook page. By default, it displays the last seven days of
data. At the top of this page, you’ll see several line charts.
5. The graph shows a high-level view of a) how many total page
likes you have, b) if there is positive or negative growth over
the week, and c) how many new page likes you’ve acquired this
week versus last week. Deeper results can be examined more
closely by clicking the right facing arrow or the graph itself.
You can look at your benchmark and compare your average
performance over time. The second graph shows the types of
likes you acquired (or lost). Do you have a spike in unlikes ?
This may be indicative of posting too often, or posting
something that didn’t resonate with your audience.
The Page
Likes

6. The Page
Likes
6
The third and final graph on this page
shows where your likes came from.
The “Where Your Likes Came From”
chart details where people came to
“Like” your Facebook page from the
Web: Mobile, On Page, Page
Suggestions, Ads and Sponsor or
Others.
Where are the majority of your likes from?
Or the least?
Continue marketing in your strongest areas, and ramp up
optimization and sharing in your weak areas for a well-
rounded approach.
7. The Post Reach analytics, at
the high-level, shows how
many people you reached in
the last week and how this
compares to the week prior.
The Post
Reach

8. The Post
Reach
8
The previous chart shows your Post Reach: the number
of people who saw your posts via organic (they found it
themselves) or paid (you paid for your posts to appear
in their newsfeed). This second chart features the Likes,
Comments and Shares of your page.
When people
like,
comment
or share
your page,
you reach
more people.
9. The Engagement
Chart
9
The Engagement chart measures likes,
comments, shares and clicks on your page
posts. Click to see all posts. When you do this,
there are two new, awesome tabs you need to
pay attention to: When Your Fans Are
Online and Best Post Types.
10. Knowing exactly when the people who like your page
are on Facebook helps you to post when it will be
seen and interacted with. Hover over the points
in the graph to see what time of day your community is
logged into Facebook, and plan to post then.
The Best Post Types chart shows you the success of
different post types based on average reach and
engagement (reach, post clicks, like, comments and
shares) per post type (photo, status, link, video).

The Engagement
Chart
Which post types perform the
best for your brand? And at what
time are your users most active? Combine
your data from these two to post your next
few posts and see if your positive results
increase. Repeat.
