About Established as a gramophone retailer in 1921, HMV Group is
a holding company with over 700 stores in the
UK under the HMV and Waterstones fascia. It has recently expanded its
interests into cinemas and live music ticketing after entering into a
partnership with cinema chain Curzon Artificial Eye to open a pilot cinema
called hmvcurzon, and acquiring live music group Mama. It is the largest
entertainment chain in the UK and is a public limited company on the
History London Stock Exchange. HMV stands for His Master's Voice.
